Book Description

From the Introduction by Eve Walter:

We're a diverse group of friends and coworkers with a mission: a Holiday Potluck to celebrate the season and share in some friendly competition. With a small budget, a few hours of preparation, and some late-night cooking, we put together a down-sized Top Chef potluck competition — save for the fame, sweating and nervous breakdowns.

As potlucks were created in the nature of giving, it seems only right to want to share our recipes — and some tips on setting up the event — with fellow food lovers.

4.0 out of 5 stars Quirky fun little book April 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
first the good news, there is an interactive TOC

I'm not sure how the recipes are quirky, this one was just weird

"Baba ghanouge" (yeah, I've never seen it spelled that way either) calls for 1/2 cup of tahini souse

I do believe they've taken their own pictures as much of them are kind of.. unprofessional looking, it adds to the quirky charm. But at least they look like recipe pictures taken in a kitchen, in Tupperware, however, in the description they say it's an office party and then they put together the book, that's a fun glimpse, makes me feel I was at the party!

The spicy beef recipe looks good. Because a lot of people contributed there is a range of recipes and pictures.

Some of the recipes, like the shepherd's pie, have nice little introductions, some are just the recipe

The shot glass brigadeiro looks interesting, although a melting time on the chocolate in the microwave would have been helpful.

Overall the recipes look like they'd work, there are no glaring errors I found, except the one for baba ghanouge, the pictures look homey, the vegetarian nacho dip does mention adding ground beef, but it adds it on as a variation, so it's not a mistake in the recipe. I found a couple in here I'm looking forward to making.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pot luck recipe collection April 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Yes, they named it right...it IS quirky...and the GOOD thing is there is something
for most anyone in here. It is a collection from friends and I am betting that most ANYONE could find something YUMMY and DIFFERENT (as they said...quirky!) to take along to your next picnic or family get together. Nothing appealed to me directly, but I am a PICKY eater I am finding out!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected.. March 15, 2013

I chose this rating because I thought the book was kinda cheesy. Definitely not what I had in mind. It might be a 5 star book to someone else but to me it was worthless.

3.0 out of 5 stars Basic Recipes
A nice little collection of ideas for recipes using pot luck. Not particularly interesting or innovative, just ordinary recipes to make.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great.
This book made me smile more than anything. And it was free, so that was a plus. What is the worse that could happen!

5.0 out of 5 stars Our quirky pot luck recipes
This book has some great recipes inside, my suggestion is that next time all serving sizes be included so one knows how many each dish will serve.

Bought the Kindle edition. I had hoped for some new ideas. Not worth the money - even when it's free!

Good book!
My try a few of the recipes, but kinda old version of these recipes, not modern of today's recipes.
