About the Author

Chuck, Sr. is a retired teacher and coach who spent the majority of his forty-eight years in Alaska working as a big game guide all over the state. Chuck, Jr. is a school teacher, hockey player, and a longtime seasonal gold miner who has also worked all over the state. Together, they've shared many of their Alaskan adventures and given the reader an inside look at how these experiences helped make Sarah the person she is today.

It was informative, a book as much about Alaska, as it was about Sarah Palin.

If you are interested in reading an autobiography of Chuck Heath Sr.'s life, then this is the book for you. Chapter after chapter are devoted to Chuck's upbringing, his schooling, his hardships, his interest (over interest) in sports...how he was such a great teacher and on and on. Almost every chapter had a sentence or two about Sarah, but that was about it until the very end where it said she lost the election, how nervous they all were and how awful the press was. I was very dissappointed that there was not anything at all about Sarah's relationship with her husband or kids or really anybody for that matter. What did she think? How did she decide to run for V.P. with small children still at home? What did her husband think about this? It was a very boring book and I am sorry I paid money for it. If Chuck Heath wanted to write a book about himself, at least he could have said so up front and not tried to be a "great" author on the back of his daughter. "Our Sarah" should be called, "All About Chuck".

Tons of stuff about her brother. Tons of stuff about his interests, his ideas, his life. Not a hell of a lot about Sarah. She's mentioned, but as a sort of generic afterthought. I could have easily have written a story about my own life and added a few Sarah quotes from news articles to each chapter...and had the same book. Generic blah.

Really lousy exploitive title in my opinion. False advertising. I wanted to read about your sister, not you, Chuck. You said it was about your sister. I feel lied to.

I read the entire book in one sitting and wanted more. This book is not just setting the record straight, but has great Alaskan stories that bring home why Alaska is called " The Last Frontier". Sarah's brother, and dad especially seem to be characters, the type of folks that you could sit and listen to tell stories for hours. I laughed out loud at some of these stories and was touched by others. Really, a well-written book- the only downside that it wasn't longer.

This book, written by Sarah's father and brother, gives family background, starting in California in the 1930s, through Idaho, and eventually to Alaska. You can see how the character of Chuck Heath Sr. and life in Alaska has shaped Sarah's character and values. He was a teacher, as is his son, Chuck Heath Jr. The chapters are written alternately by Chuck Sr. and Chuck Jr. The father writes more about the family background, while the brother gives more insight into Sarah's career and the 2008 campaign. This is by far the best information I have read about the family, and it gives me the most insight into where Sarah came from and what made her what she is.

How many times I have heard someone say negative things about Sarah, based on lies, I can't even begin to count. I couldn't believe the classless comment that greeted me on this site from someone who had obviously not even read the book. Why do these lies go on? How course can a society become before it just flat out fails. The Sarah haters are truly a symptom.

I came here to write a review because I'd just finished doing my first one for Amazon on a book called Fatal Forecast. What a tale. The main hero of that book, other than the Coast Guard, & the fishermen, is someone like Sarah, that I would be honored to meet. Someone who is self made, self reliant, hard working, good hearted, and honest.

All of you people out there who jump to say something mean and nasty about Sarah and her family should take the time to do your own research and thinking. If you did, you couldn't possibly dislike Sarah Palin, you just couldn't. Maybe you would disagree with some of her ideas and beliefs, but you would have to come to regret your nasty comments.

I love listening to books and this one did not disappoint. The 2 Chucks are a delight. Love, honesty, and humor flow easily from this collection of thoughts and anecdotes and yes, facts about Sarah. You get a glimpse of what it'd be like to be raised in a setting that nurtures good wholesome living. This is a book that will not be traded back in towards another, it is one to stay treasured in my collection.

I highly recommend this book. It would make a great Christmas or Holiday gift. It carries the perfect message for any family, for any season.

I loved it! Gave me insight into Mrs. Palin and what makes her tick. She is a lovely, smart, tough lady and I can see where she got it. From her family and her surroundings and just making a living in a rugged environment.

Poor Palin. Everyone is trying to make money off of her/from her. Even her family.
Poorly written fiction. Someday she will be a trivial pursuit question. Her 15 minutes are over and she should go quietly back to Alaska and get educated. And eat.

I am not finished reading it yet, but I am really enjoying it. I felt that she really got ambushed by the media, so it is interesting to hear the story from the family's side. They seem like a wonderful family to me. I have been to Alaska six times, mostly for fishing, but two family trips too. The Alaskan people are very open and friendly. They have always been fun to visit and to be with. When Sarah Palin was nominated for VP, and gave her speech at the convention I was very energized by her directness, and down to Earth attitude. Her experience in the election I would not wish on anyone. The media showed no interest in an honest and open discourse, just vilification! I would love to meet her sometime, and spend some time in Alaska with the family. The book is written by Sarah's father Chuck Sr, and brother Chuck Jr. It is a loving history of three generations, who they are, their interests, sports, religion, and adventures. These are the kind of people who made our country strong!!
