Informative college textbook!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Our Sexuality (Hardcover)
Easy to read. Basics of human anatomy start the book after a bit of background on human sexuality and gender roles. Explicit pictures and photos. Topics range from STD's and abortion to Cybersex and Loving Relationships. Text gives suggestions for further discussion throughout! Useful definitions appear on the pages where they first appear in the text. Paper and script used very easy on the eyes. Website sources and further readings suggested at the end of every section. Small glossary, but definitions taken care of in text. Author and subject indexes extensive. Very informative!

Textbook used for upper level college course. Informative!,

This review is from: Our Sexuality (Hardcover)
The course is called HUMAN SEXUALITY and many jokes have been born around it! "When is the lab?" etc. But the editions of this book have been used for as long as I can remember, and now that I am in the class I can see why! From a standpoint of information it is unsurpassed I am certain! It is easy reading, informative, and as the first sexually EXPLICIT textbook I have ever used it has been very easy to deal with! The book goes step-by-step through the basics of human anatomy and topics range from STD's to abortion to Loving relationships in very straightforward language. Our professor has been able to encorporate group work, and field trips as well as our own personal study. Discussions suggested from the book have been some of the best ever!

I purchased this textbook for a human sexuality 3500 class. I took the class online, thus the importance of my comprehension of the material within the text was crucial. I may have slightly enjoyed a textbook on occasion, but more often than not they are simply a means to a grade. This was not the case with "Our Sexuality", which I loved! Sources cited within the text have led me to more reading, I even purchased a few first editions of the works of Kinsey, Ellis, and Masters & Johnson that were referenced early on. I had a friend visiting from out of state and she read the entire textbook over her weeklong stay. I briefly questioned selling the book back, (I normally await, eagerly, at the chance of pawning off my pile of overpriced unused crap that they call textbooks.) But the need to purchase new overpriced crap for the coming semester led me to list the book on EBay, it sold for $50.
I saved almost $30 by purchasing the textbook through Amazaon instead of the bookstore. Amazon has certainly become my preference for purchasing textbooks.

This textbook is very suitable for personal education. It explores every aspect of human sexuality and covers everything from prenatal sexual development to issues encountered by the elderly. Also covered: homosexuality; theories on love; the role of fantasy; prostitution, sexually transmitted diseases; masturbation; celibacy; contraception; rape; sexual dysfunction; and how diabetes and other chronic diseases impact our sexual lives. It short, this book covers it all. Let's face it, we're all a little uncomfortable discussing sexuality. Get this book to get the straight scoop.

Excellent human sexuality text!,
This review is from: Our Sexuality (Hardcover)
I am a graduate student teaching the undergrad human sexuality course, and I chose the newest edition of this book that I used in college. It is a great text! I reviewed several other human sexuality texts before I chose on this one, and I found this one to be by far the most informative, most organized, and most interesting. It includes many interesting facts that you won't find in other introductory human sexuality texts, facts that are actually useful in people's everyday lives, and the info people actually WANT to know. It covers a wide range of human sexuality topics and has chapters that many other texts don't. I would highly recommend this book for learning about human sexuality!

I used this book in a Sexual Behaviour class in university. It is very easy to read and understand, and the information is priceless! I would recommend this book even as a general read. It really is a great way to learn about our own sexuality, and that of others.

Some of use may take the class for GE or random credit. For some classes you can get by without the book, and yes, for most general human sexuality courses you can get by without the text. However, this text is extremely well thought out and articulate. It provides good insight into contemporary sexual issues and explores vast controversial issues with surprisingly adequate depth.

This book was good in the sense that it teaches parents how to talk to their children/ teens about sex. I was very shocked that the book had so much information that was both essential and informative.

Great and Interesting Read,

I acquired this textbook for a class in which I believed it would be another boring read. But upon the first chapter of the book, I could tell that this was not the usual sleeper. Filled with incredibly useful and relevent facts, up to date pictures and current events, Our Sexuality continues to push the boundaries of exploring a very intimate part of our daily lives. Covering everything from STIs, sexual fantasies, fetishes, rape knowledge, and the physiological responses to sexual stimulus, this book has something that everyone can learn about. Much more than a textbook, I use this as a personal reference for all things sexual. In the world of sexuality, there is no point in being modest, and this book bares it all.
