4.0 out of 5 stars Very good unless you already have most of it!!!
This is a very good cd by MAW with many great tracks but dont be suprised to find out that you might already own most of them. This is exactly what happened to me. I really love Masters At Work and I was looking forward to this album for a long long time. I ordered the Japanese version in January with the extra disc and I was very suprised to find out that I owned most of...

2.0 out of 5 stars disappointing effort
what can you say about a CD by two of the greatest house music turntablists ever that contains NO turntable work at all? If you like Rickie Henderson without stealing bases, or John Stockton without an assist, you might like this overly soft, undramatic CD...

This is a very good cd by MAW with many great tracks but dont be suprised to find out that you might already own most of them. This is exactly what happened to me. I really love Masters At Work and I was looking forward to this album for a long long time. I ordered the Japanese version in January with the extra disc and I was very suprised to find out that I owned most of the tracks of the album on 12''. In addition, the length of some of the tracks are smaller than the 12'' versions, excluding some great music from the cd. At least with the Japanese version you get compensated with the Bonus Mixed cd. Oh well, this cd is very good, an essential for every house lover, but has too many old titles and this can de a disapointment.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes, yes, yes!!, April 12, 2002

This is a piece of absolute genius spread over two pieces of vinyl. For those that are unsure, the title says it all. Little Louie and Kenny Dope are big names with me and my crew, but they are going to be even more recognised for this work of laid back house-a-licious grooves, every track is a groover, smooth yet oh so uplifting and sophisticated. I cannot speak highly enough for this album.

The first 'proper' tune, Like a Butterfly (you send me) sets the tone for the whole album, sexy, uplifting, melodic and inspiring music for the soul. It's said of every great recording/book/movie, but this stuff hits you right in the heart. It is 'house music' but it takes it much, much further.

MAW Expensive, the duo's tribute to Afrobeat's (anti?-)hero Fela Kuti, condenses a good 12 minute Fela workout into a 5 minute... shaker, sweet! Latin Lover sounds fresher than ever, if that's possible and the final track Michelle's Message is a powerfully emotional listen, despite wanting a full, 'music' track when most of it is the woman's almost unbelieveable voicemail message, but in the end it just leaves you wanting more... and more and... making you just reach over and put in back to the begining again. Which is exactly I did on my first listen. Magic.

4.0 out of 5 stars Louie Vega and Kenny Dope have mastered club..., June 2, 2004
By
This review is from: Our Time Is Coming (Audio CD)
I love this album...they mixed classic vocals with progressive mellow club music. It's a album, you drive down A1A to South Beach listening to. You have to check him out at Club Cielo in N.Y.C. He continues to deliver with the same mellow groove and more. Vibe Magazine had no clue what they were talking about when the failed to give this album raving reviews. Pick it up and judge it for yourself. You will not be disappointed.

These guys have only just begun to jam! Anyone who is a DJ is very likely to own a considerable amount of MAW records. This latest offering only waters your mouth for the 12" releases. "Like A Butterfly (You Send Me)", "Backfired", "Our Time Is Coming", "Every Now And Then" and "Latin Lover" are my favorites. Put in the cd and start dancin'!

5.0 out of 5 stars Their Time Has Come, Indeed, May 17, 2002

Deep, soulful house from legendary DJs Kenny "Dope" Gonzales and Little Louie Vega, who have remixed everyone from Madonna to George Benson to Ultra Nate to even the Spice Girls. "Our Time Is Coming" is a nice blend of lush jazz/Latin influences set to a disco beat. While most dance tunes are overproduced yet underwritten, this hugely appealing disc excels in production, songwriting, and vocals. A mellowed-out CD for the more mature dance lover.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Masters Work it, April 30, 2002
This review is from: Our Time Is Coming (Audio CD)
i've been into MAW since the 90's when little louie spun at sound factory bar in new york. and their work still got the flava! its soulful, deep, jazzy with great basslines and beats to get you in the groove. and thats what this cd is about. i'm not a DJ or own any vinyl so for me, having all these songs on one cd was worth it, gotta reprezent.

Heard one of the songs on the album (Pienso En Ti) on an internet radio station and decided to take a chance on getting the entire album. No regrets. The songs have a nice flow that allow them to stay in the background while you do whatever it is you do. Pick it up and you won't be disappointed.

Apart from the great influences of Fela or Roy, I would get this CD just for the Luis Salinas track..Talk about a deep track.

Patti Austin, La India, Stephanie Mills, James Ingram and Roy Ayers (just for starters) on one CD. Can you say "soulful house smorgasbord," boys and girls?

if u don't believe that it's official...better ask somebody (that has it!) I love this cd...(in my opinion) it's a progression from their last joint "Nuyorican Soul" which I liked a lot!!

Just simply a mixture of freshly crafted muzik.
