5.0 out of 5 stars Great Unique Band
After seeing Relative Ash perform on the Tattoo the Earth tour I couldn't wait to get my hands on the album and it didn't dissapoint. Pure loud music in the continuing trend of new wave Metal bands, with emotion pouring out of vocalist Marcus Harrington, whose voice is unique and unlike any other i've heard. 4.0 out of 5 stars Hi! We're Relative Ash, You Don't Know Us Yet...But you Will, March 29, 2002

I got this cd about two weeks ago and thought it was pretty good. They sound like the Chino from the Deftones meets 40 Below Summer's music. The lyrics, while graphic, are very well written and not just easy catch phrases for drunken masses to sing along to. The music stays heavy but never seems to repeat itself. My personal favorites are definately "Pout" and "Hymen". Don't be fooled by the titles of the songs, the music is complex and not like a Drowning Pool or Saliva. The only fault in the cd is that I wish the lead singer would sing for longer stretches of time. As is, most songs consist of him either him screaming or at a near whisper. But overall, this beats so much of the "nu metal" thats out right now,...

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Start..., February 9, 2002
This review is from: Our Time With You (Audio CD)
I first picked this up without any knowlege at all what I was getting myself into, I thought the cover art was "different" so I gave it a try. I was actually surpirsed by this album. I might have expected some mediocre nu-metal type stuff. What I got was a some-what original album that was a mix of Deftones and Soulfly. Enough bullsh... I mean chit-chatting, lets get down to business. "Breath (Tiny Hands)" is by far one of the best songs on the album, along with "Pout". It is sort of nu-metal, so there are very few bludgeoning riffs and about one blastbeat through the whole thing, so, that sort of sucks, but that doesn't mean that the album doesn't deserve 5 stars. I really hope that their sophmore release is just as good as this...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, August 20, 2000

I saw these guys last july opening up for every other band at the tattoo the earth concert and they did a good job starting the show off. Like most of the bands there, i didn't know much about them so i went ahead and checked them out.The CD is great as well as thier performance so go ahead and check it out. Some of the good songs are bounce, sperm, and charmed. Get this CD even if u are not sure of who they are but know that u like heavy metal. I could compare these guys to a little bit of staind and ultraspank, but not completely kinda hard to compare, but anyway. some other kool bands to check out who were awesome at tattoo the earth were mudvayne, nothingface, and systematic. check them out. C ya.

5.0 out of 5 stars "inspiring succession", April 18, 2006
This review is from: Our Time With You (Audio CD)
now as we all know apparently everyone that wrote a reveiw for this album religiously compares them to the deftones and in doing so most people wouldnt be wrong they do sound similer to deftones in the "around the fur" era, but relative ash also sound alot like another band.."taproot" well.. older taproot atleast thats what comes to my mind. the more calmer parts of the cd do sound like the older (better) deftones but the heavier pissed off parts sound a whole lot like older taproot with more high pitched insane screaming rasps.so overall i personally like this cd alot better then the deftones and the singer mark harrington is much more creative as well, so yes, if you do like (older)deftones you will love this cd, and deffinatly if you you love older taproot...!!

5.0 out of 5 stars A breath of fresh air in today's tiring metal scene, August 7, 2001

I saw these guys live at the smoke out and i fell in love with them. i was amazed by how heavy they were even though they did not just pump out the same detuned power chords. many people have been comparing them to the deftones. i guess it's because they have similar sounding vocals. the singer is great. i love how quickly he goes from a soft almost whispering voice to one of the better screams (not yells) in metal today. the guitarist does a great job of keeping it interesting and very heavy. i love the drummer. perhaps the best aspect of their music is their rythm. i love the flow of their music. they have good transitions and the singer puts a lot of energy into the songs. a great buy if u like bands like (old) staind, godsmack and deftones. heavy but complex

5.0 out of 5 stars Best CD Around!!, March 7, 2001
By
This review is from: Our Time With You (Audio CD)
Okay, how should I say this? If you are reading this review right now and haven't bought this CD, do it now!! I'll even rate ach song for you!! Pout- The best song on the CD. The first time I heard the fast-paced vocals of Marcus Harrington I was taken away. Also, the bass from Chuck Ford are amazing!!Sperm- Pretty good song but nothing compared to the rest of the CD.Breathe- Pretty much the same style as Sperm just with a little better rhythm.Flavor- This has the best opening for a song in a long while. As a guitar player myself, I was taken away by Carlos guitar playing. And then the vocals came along and sung in perfect unison to the riff!!Hymen- Great song. Not a 'Pout' or 'Flavor' but certainly one for the record books.5:30- A truly depressing song where if you listen carefully, you can hear Marcus' struggle through the lyrics. Very moving.Bounce- The most light-hearted song on the entire CD. Most of the album is depressing but this gets up up.Be Mighty- Pretty good song about Marcus' godfather I believe. Great emotions in the lyrics and great drums from John Salzaar. Now, if you aren't convinced yet, I am sadden. Just go out and buy the CD!!
