5.0 out of 5 stars timelessly relevant punk rock. YOU MUST GET THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!, June 13, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Our Will Be Done (Audio CD)
this album contains both of the crucifucks initial albums plus one bonus track that appeared on a MRR comp. if you can imagine anti-authoritarian tantrum anthems, that's exactly what this is. Doc Dart has been called the Jerry Lewis of punk and is about the best singer to ever channel raw anger through a P.A. speaker. if you pass this one up then you deserve all you get. this is truly a masterpiece. the best punk album ever made. and surprisingly, STILL RELEVANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the BEST Punk albums EVAR!!, July 8, 2004

Incredible through and through. Steve Shelley on drums (from Sonic Youth) provides the backing for some awesome psychedelic punk guitar craft (not just thrash chords) and the sad/sick/twisted yet political/insightful rantings of Doc Dart make this a must have.
Plus, "When The Top Comes Off" is the best (only?) allegorical song about the mortal terror that both humanity and worms share under the dominion of 'The Man'. Really.

I had the frightening pleasure of catching an incendiary show at the Fireside (which is a bowling alley by day) in Chicago years ago, they're the real deal. Doc is completely insane.

4.0 out of 5 stars What punk rock should sound like, July 4, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Our Will Be Done (Audio CD)
In a world of "artists" known as Marilyn Manson and Eminem it's nice to know that stuff like this is still in circulation. Screw mainstream alternative and gothic industrial rock and crap-rap! Long live punk! Just get plastered to songs like Democracy Spawns Bad Taste and Hinkley Had a Vision and it'll all make sense.

4.0 out of 5 stars One of my all-time favorites, August 23, 1999

I have half this CD on vinyl. I bought it when it was first released at a show they did in Philly and it still reamains one of the all time greatest punk albums ever recorded. The second half of this CD is stuff I had never heard before - their second recording. It is nothing like the Crucifucks I knew and loved. I have no idea what happened, but they really lost it.

This CD gets 5 stars for the first half and 1 star for the second half. Luckily thie first half rules so much that it doesn't matter.

This cd is a compilation of two Crucifu<ks albums: Self Titled (its in the picture) and Wisconsin (weird name fer an album is it not?) Both of these albums revel in the general augnst, anger, and at times insanity of Doc Dart. The self titled album is more raw and less refined. The lyrics are screamed as fast as he can manage, but the album does slow down for one of the songs and every now and then fer a little bass solo type thing. The lyrics on the first album are hilarious and almost laughable at times, however they are an introduction to Doc's megalomaniacal vision of the world which will be solidified on the second album: Wisconsin. This album is slower and the vocals are not as obnoxious (in a good way), as they are on the first album. However this album shows the band in their prime before they broke up (then returned and made an even slower album and Doc made some mediocre solo albums). Doc calls himself God many times on the second album and makes strange references to Native Americans, which can be creepy and will have people asking what the hell is going on.
Overall the two albums are not really punk rock in my opinion they are some experimental genre of music that has never fully materialized however these albums are essential additions to any quality uinderground rekid collection.

This should be required listening for anyone claiming to be a punk fan. Deceptively good musicianship, intelligent lyrics, and vocals that don't even try to sing but effectively communicate rage. Vocally, try to imagine an angry Richard Simmons!

This band is great! Please listen to the lyrics. These guys were way before their time. I don't even know what that statement means, but this music is so pertinent right now it's amazing. Hinckley had a vision...

5.0 out of 5 stars Revoltingly Pleasant!, August 28, 2005
This review is from: Our Will Be Done (Audio CD)
This masterpiece is a punk classic. Not only will the guitar riffs rumble throughout your very existance, the highly offensive vocals of the lead singer will pierce even the most honorable man's moral.
A must have for anyone who can hear.
