More About the Author

Author comments:

I really enjoy meeting people and listening to their stories. At times the truth of their life stories is challenging. This encourages me to write the short stories that capture the social and political moments in people's lives.
My books are alive with drama, friendship and often sadness. But the strength of character that is shown by the hero's in these tales and the feed-back for my readers, is often overwhelming. This enables me to remain focused on the research needed to uncover the truth in every story.

In 1994, Leonie Campbell emigrated from New Zealand to Sydney, Australia. Campbell's career as a Media Manager/Sales Consultant spanned fourteen years within the publishing industry.
Campbell travelled extensively throughout South-East Asia and later in Uzbekistan, Central Asia. While in Vietnam, Campbell joined the Hanoi International Women's Group and worked closely with UNICEF on clean-water projects from 1997 to 1998. The women's committee also raised money to assist the local doctors with medical equipment. They provided clothing to the Orphanages for young children. In Laos and Vietnam, the charity group helped select needy children for facial surgery, by a team of Australian doctors.

To date, Campbell has written four novels and numerous short stories about the people that she has met over the years. Campbell has always immersed herself in the local culture be it in India, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Singapore and Malaya.

3.0 out of 5 stars Worthwhile read!, November 20, 2005
This review is from: Our children's sorrow (Paperback)
We chose to ignore the news of third-world countries and hid our heads in the sand. This book makes you think about the impact on people's lives; trafficking, selling of children and the disruptive effects of war.
A learning experience.
