As a newcomer to Portland, this book has been a godsend. It does a wonderful job of covering hundreds of different things to do in Portland and surrounding areas (the coast, the mountains) with kids. It covers restaurants that are kid-friendly, scenic drives, things to do when it's raining (a definite plus here), places to host birthday parties, etc.This book tells you which age groups are likely to enjoy different activities (for example, a day hike may be better for older kids than for a tired toddler) and also the best times of year for many activities. I would even suggest this book to people who don't have children. It is the best all-around guide to the area, its sights, sounds, restaurants and history, that I've found so far. |
