This review is from: Out and About: Preparing Children with Autism Spectrum Disorders to Participate in Their Communities (Paperback)
Finally a hands-on simple to follow strategy to help kids with autism participate in the community. This book is so user friendly it should be in every household with kids who have autism. It provides a step by step blueprint for breaking down outings including birthday parties, class field trips, going to the movie, going to the mall, family gatherings at holidays...everything. Plus it has a sample story and strategy for each outing. It also covers the spectrum as far as covering kids of different ages and abilities. As an instructional aide working with students with autism, I recommend this book to teachers and aides to break down the issues and challenges related to getting these wonderful students out into the community. Sample visuals are included and the appendix is full of examples for each resource. Kudos to Hudson & Coffin! It's wonderful! Joanna Keating-Velasco, Author, A Is for Autism, F Is for Friend
