4.0 out of 5 stars A Runaway No More
As a member of The Runaways, Lita wanted to play heavy metal. "Out For Blood" is Lita's first solo effort, which provides heavy metal/hard rock songs that rock 110%, such as the title track and "On The Run". One of my favorite tracks is the ballad "Just A Feeling". Also especially noteworthy is "Rock 'N Roll Made Me What I Am...

3.0 out of 5 stars Smoke Machine, Leather Teddy, Black Widow Guitar, Gigantic Hair.....Check
This is a great little disk. If you are familiar with Lita Ford because of her smash album "Lita" only, do yourself a favor and pick up this disk. Outside of showing her butt in various leather G-strings, Lita Ford is also known for being able to shred a mean guitar, and proves it with this disk. The tunes presented here aren't as "pop metal" as what is featured on later...

One of my favorite tracks is the ballad "Just A Feeling". Also especially noteworthy is "Rock 'N Roll Made Me What I Am Today", which is a story of Lita's teenage years in The Runaways. This album displays Lita's guitar goddess talents splendidly, I love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars "A GREAT SOLO DEBUT", June 2, 2004
By
This review is from: Out for Blood (Audio CD)
The first track, "Out For Blood", is the best on the album! It's pure-raw power! As a whole, the album is a listening experience that perfectly denotes the sound of the 80's. I have it on Tape and later got it on CD. It must be out of print now and that probably explains the prices. It's worth the money. Consider it a part of Metal history. Many people only know her from her latter releases but her first solo is definitely the hardest and most memorable. It's a shame that the "Best of" releases don't completely cover her entire catalog and to me, they don't do her justice!

This is a great little disk. If you are familiar with Lita Ford because of her smash album "Lita" only, do yourself a favor and pick up this disk. Outside of showing her butt in various leather G-strings, Lita Ford is also known for being able to shred a mean guitar, and proves it with this disk. The tunes presented here aren't as "pop metal" as what is featured on later releases. The title song is a straight up hair metal rocker. "Ready Willing and Able" is nice bluesy rock tune while "Rock and Roll made Me What I am Today" is a cool tune featuring a very cool guitar track.
If you are a fan of hair metal, this disk is well worth the $[...] investment. Lita Ford was one of the only women to "break" into the world of hair metal, and it wasn't on looks alone. She is a solid guitarist, and writes some great tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars! Yeah, you heard me! :), February 13, 2006

I love this album. On 'Out for blood' Lita proves that she can rock with the best of them. Actually out rock them is more like it. Anyway this album and 'Dancin' on the edge' are my two favorite Lita albums. If you like awesome lead guitar buy it. And the singing is great too.

4.0 out of 5 stars Heavy metal from the scrap heap, but Lita's still got spunk, January 18, 2003

Lost during the years 1979 and 1983 after the Runaways broke up, Lita Ford finally got a 2nd chance at stardom(on the heels of Joan Jett's sudden success)and recorded this hard rock album with bassist/producer Neil Merryweather and drummer Dusty Watson(who turns in a fabulous performance). No hits here, just lots of chunky, raw guitar and minimal production. "Just a Feeling", despite inane lyrics, is one of Lita's catchiest ballads, and "Die For Me Only" has some rip-roaring drums by Watson a la The Scorpions. Lita later badmouthed this record(and the original cover, which had her ripping a guitar apart in a black leather teddy)and indeed it's muddy, scrappy, unfocused and uneven. Still, a few songs like "Rock-n-Roll Made Me What I Am Today" can really kick, and Lita as always displays sass and flash.

5.0 out of 5 stars SOME HOT SUMMER ROCK!!!!!!, May 28, 2008
This review is from: Out for Blood (Audio CD)
In trying to come up with some hot summer day choices, to pump in my new pad (it's ten bucks a week to run an A.C here, so you better believe its gonna be HOT) I've decided to dig out this number from Lita Ford. OUT FOR BLOOD.
We all know Lita Ford. She was a Runaway, yes. And she put out a few hit records in the eighties, even one that she recorded with Ozzy in years to follow. BUT, between those two phases, in 1983 Lita Ford saved up all of her pennies and put together this underated gem of an eighties metal album on her own terms. Nowadays it seems like the world would like this one to dissapear (even Amazon, has just recently graced us with song samples, for a long time it wasn't happening) ...even back in the day, the biz was not so happy with Lita Fords homemade album. They made her nix the super hot album cover, which originally had her a little less covered up, and sprawled across a spider web (I know, the industry is lame...)
Due to the fact that this one has remained somewhat lost, you may only know of the later era stuff, when Lita Ford sort of settled down, and went into a more pop friendly metal chick type vibe (Kiss Me Deadly?)...With this album she was strait up just a metal freak/hot guitar wailing deadly black widow. Lita shows more of her guitar prowess here than on anything else shes ever done. Any fan of the pre-hair breed, will no doubt be cranking this one up, while they drink beers on a hot afternoon in front of their box fan, sweating bullets.

This is Lita Fords best hour by far!

I have this on a record and it has a different cover with a guitar split apart. Great album. Give her credit for trying a first record. My favorite song is Out For Blood and great video if you get the chance to watch it too!
