Canada-based CASCADIA ENTERTAINMENT is one of many smaller DVD purveyors who market public domain films that are often in unrestored condition. Picture and sound quality is solely dependent on source material. "Below fair to good" is typical for their product.
Partway through its Vancouver, B.C. production, uncredited co-writer Dennis Hopper was called upon to direct OUT OF THE BLUE, the story of CeBe (Manz), a troubled teen girl and her dysfunctional family. Hopper also plays CeBe's drunken biker dad; Farrell is her needle-popping mom.
The story opens with CeBe riding in the cab of her dad's big rig. While being affectionate toward his daughter, Don gets distracted and T-bones a school bus, killing some kids. He's imprisoned for 5 years and upon release goes right back into a self-destructive alcoholic lifestyle. As things quickly deteriorate between her fighting parents, an emotionally fragile Cebe does the absolutely unthinkable.
With edgy punk music supplied by Canadian rockers the Pointed Sticks, this taut drama will stay with you for some time after you see it. Most highly recommended!
Parenthetical number preceding title is a 1 to 10 imdb viewer poll rating.
