5.0 out of 5 stars What can't this man do?, June 21, 2001
By Katie (Allentown, NJ USA) - See all my reviews
David Bromberg is a musical genius. His guitar talent is outdone only by his outrageous sense of humor. This cd is filled with songs that are musically wonderful and sad, funny, true, silly, classic and original. New Lee Highway Blues should be heard by anyone who's ever taken a road trip. This version of Kansas City is a hoot! It's the best I've ever heard. Mr. Bojangles is a tune he played for a long while when he toured with Jerry Jeff Walker, and he talks about that in the middle of the song. If you don't smile at his descriptions of that, you have no sense of humor. What fame David has (he's kind of a cult figure)has him best known for "Sharon", which has incredible chord progressions and interesting lyrics. 'Lectric Chair is as perverse as a popular song can be, yet I find myself singing it often, and smiling. You can't go wrong with this cd. It's great.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great American musician, April 15, 2009
David Bromberg is one of the greatest American musicians and this is a collection of his greatest songs. He is a master at a variety of instruments and a variety of American folkloric musical genres. He plays it all and all really well. He also has a great sense of humour and you should go see him live if you get the chance. He is even better as a live performer.
