Editorial Reviews

Review

About the Out of Darkness series, Amazon readers have raved:

I'd highly recommend this series, starting with this [Out of Darkness #1] and progressing on to, "Into The Light" and "In God's Hands." These are all a very wonderfully enjoyable summer (or any time of year) read.  --Wordman8078

I found Ruth's Price novel Out of Darkness to be a great read as it was my first foray into Amish romance. The story was engaging and I found myself rooting for the main characters. -- Lefty

I really enjoyed this novella. The characters were lovely. We may not always have a second chance but when Sophia was offered a second chance she made her decision for the right reasons. -- Maria Holmes

5.0 out of 5 stars Not my thing really, but good! July 3, 2013

I've never read an Amish romance novel before (or even a romance novel), and I mainly picked this up because I promised my friend I'd try reading something that wasn't a technical manual or sci-fi epic. I have to say, while this is not my thing, the book was actually pretty good. It had suspense, and the characters really drew me in. If this author wrote something that wasn't a romance novel, I'd definitely give it a shot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good but needed to be proofread October 22, 2013

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I felt this book had a good story line and was able to get it read the same day I bought it. Then, was curious enough that I immediately purchased the next set of books for this series. However, there were several places that made it apparent that someone didn't edit and proofread as they should. I'm hopeful that the next set will be as well written, but with far less errors.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly done December 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you are paying for this book.....don't. Words are misspelled, grammar is atrocious, editing is nonexistent. They can't keep it in the right tense or keep the names straight. "Oh my god," is not a common Amish phrase. Do some research, get an editor and have your friends edit your story. This was awful. I only finished after several months because I didn't have anything else in the house. Ugh!

3.0 out of 5 stars Bad editing October 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't think this book was read before it was published. Lots of mistakes. Even had a whole paragraph repeated which caused confusion. Lots of extra words that didn't fit in the sentence.

1.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed! December 15, 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Words are missing in sentences, and bad grammar throughout. Chapter 6 & 7 are exactly word for word the same. There was cussing and violence. I have read everyone of Beverly Lewis Amish books, and will go back to only reading her books! Very disappointed with Out Of Darkness Megabook.

5.0 out of 5 stars I Could Not Stop Reading - the Story Was so Good July 20, 2013
By Wendy
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Fascinated by Amish culture? Then you'll love this 3 part page turner by Ruth Price. The book is a story of a young girl kidnapped by criminals and saved by an Amish community. The plot, story line and character development are excellent. I found no grammatical errors as noted by another reader - must have been corrected.

I took this book to bed intending to read for a while, I ended up finishing it at around 1.30 am. Could not put it down. Seriously good fiction!

1.0 out of 5 stars I was very disappointed. Instead of ten books November 20, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was very disappointed. Instead of ten books, I only got three. Got to the second chapter of book 2 and could not get it to move to the next page. Finally had to go to the bar and move it ahead skipping several pages. NOT a good deal at all.

This is the best example of why Ruth Price needs to some way be able to clone her writing and I'm sure as a person. Now about becoming Amish and what a woman goes through. Read more

More About the Author

Ruth Price is a Pennsylvania native and devoted mother of four. After her youngest set off for college, she decided it was time to pursue her childhood dream to become a fiction writer. Drawing inspiration from her faith, her husband and love of her life Harold, and deep interest in Amish culture that stemmed from a childhood summer spent with her family on a Lancaster farm, Ruth began to pen the stories that had always jabbered away in her mind. Ruth believes that art at its best channels a higher good, and while she doesn't always reach that ideal, she hopes that her readers are entertained and inspired by her stories.
