More About the Author

John Simpson is a Vietnam Era Veteran, former Police Officer of the Year, a Federal Agent, a Federal Magistrate, an armed bodyguard to Saudi Royalty, a senior Federal Government executive, and recipient of awards from the Vice President of the United States and the Secretary of Treasury.

John feels that for too long fiction writers neglected gay men. John writes entertaining, enjoyable, and enthralling fiction centered on the lives of gay men. John allows his readers to see life through gay mens' eyes. And just like real life, John's characters have active and exciting sex lives. John calls on his broad personal and professional experience in writing gay erotica. John is author of numerous full-length novels available through Dreamspinner Press and several short stories in Alyson Books anthologies. John has written magazine articles for gay and straight audiences alike.

John lives with his partner of 40 years who he married in 2008 and their three Scottish Terriers. John is highly involved with the Church, specifically seeking to repair rifts between Christendom and the gay community.

John wishes to extend a very special thanks to his many female readers. He appreciates and loves the fact women enjoy male/male erotica, and he thanks you for your past and continued support. He hopes to never disappoint you, and always leave you wanting more!

Some of the short stories previously published by Alyson Books include:

"The Virgin Marine," "The Acropolis of Love," "The Tower," "The Serpent," "Locker Room Heat," "Campus Steam," "Lust in the Sand," and now "Love on the Rocks," for the upcoming edition of "Island Boys," being released shortly.

Additionally, he has written numerous articles for various gay and straight magazines.

John has five short stories available through Dreamspinner Press: "The Smell of Leather,", "The Sheriff", "Fairy Tale", and the very popular "Officers in Need." Recently added was: "That's the Ticket." Check them out today! If these stories don't rock your boat, you're in dry dock!

Light, easy read. MM romance--not real, but then who reads MMR for true stories. The story starts out very differently than the previous story ended (needs better editing/planning).
I have all of the books in this series, and I reread them regularly when I need a quick pick-me-up.

Format: Paperback
After thoroughly enjoying the first three David Windsor-Shane Thompson novels [Condor One, Talons of the Condor & Condor and Falcon], I was surprised and delighted to find Out of the Gilded Cage listed on an upcoming list on another site.

I was not pleased to find that it was not available for my Kindle here and kept hoping the Kindle edition would pop up. With the release of the novel yesterday, I eagerly scanned Amazon's Kindle store once again and was once again disappointed. Unable to wait, I purchased the ebook through another publisher's site and transferred the novel via USB to my Kindle.

I finished it in one morning [I read very fast] and got to the end and wanted more! And I want to go back and reread the previous installments as well. Too bad Amazon lost a sale to me because they couldn't be bothered to make the Kindle edition available.

Former President David Windsor and his husband former Secret Service Agent Shane Thompson still make a formidable couple as they tackle life after the White House. Starting a family, doing good works and helping President Victoria Winters all seem like a part of a normal life for these two men.

And what makes them special is not that they are gay but they are special men that just happen to be gay. I look forward to more adventures with the Thompson-Windsor Family and hopefully someone at Amazon will get on the ball before they lose more potential sales to other publisher sites.

Having read the whole series I can honestly say it gets better as it goes along. The characters become richer and the stories more in depth. I would recommend the series even with the problems I found. If you can overlook them, and I did, I believe you will enjoy it immensely!
Problem #1
At the end of book 3 it is stated they are moving to Palm Springs Ca. to their new home.
At the beginning of Book 4 they are moving into their new home in Cape May, New Jersey.
Problem #2
Jack, the son is said to be 14 when he is adopted in book 4
In book 5, during a kidnapping he suddenly is 12
In book 6 he is suddenly older again and talking about dating, hot boys etc.
A good beta reader should have noticed these discrepancies as should a good editor. There are some less glaring problems with language, but the stories are good and enjoyable.

This book includes the challenges encountered by a former President of the US who is gay and his husband after the former President comes out of retirement to become the ambassador to Great Britain. The baddies are still out to get him, his son is kidnapped, and the couple help to rescue him. Lots of intrigue.
