5.0 out of 5 stars Gone but His Legacy Still Lives
Sadly Gary died last month before his time. These two albums were his finest and two of the finest country records ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Stewart's best stuff., January 11, 2009
This review is from: Out of Hand: Your Place Or Mine (Audio CD)
These are both recordings I have from back in the 1970's. I was very happy to see them on CD, as I am without a record player or turntable now. These two "records" show the versatility of Mr. Stewart from the rock-style "Leah" and "I Ain't Living Long Like This" to the true-country of the songs "I See The Want To In Your Eyes", "Leah", and "Broken Hearted People". The bluegrass sound of "Pretend I Never Happened" is a musical trip down a Kentucky dirt road. Gary Stewart was, I think, at his musical and instrumental best on these two albums. His versatility on these show from the guitar work to the piano which he played equally well.
This is what I call REAL country music, the kind Nashville has seemed to forget over the years. Mr. Stewart had a unique voice, and you can hear the fun as well as the pain in it. Anyone interested in GREAT country music needs to acquire this double set on one disc (great idea!).

These songs sound as great today as they did in the 70's...in fact, thanks to outstanding remastering, they probably sound better. Gary's style and range remains unsurpassed, and his powerful, haunting vocals bring pathos and emotion to many outstanding songs. This belongs in the collection of all serious country music aficionados.

5.0 out of 5 stars Country/Country Rock? Who Cares, it's just good!, June 22, 2008
This review is from: Out of Hand: Your Place Or Mine (Audio CD)
True artists like this are hard to find. I'm not gonna do a track by track. There's enough of that goin' on. This is fine stuff no matter when it was made. Some people just have so much to say and then leave. He did and he did. Great tortured artist. Get it and feel it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Stewart the consumate C&W singer, March 18, 2010

There are few classical C&W artists who can compare to Gary Stewart. Known by only a handful of aficionados, he is neck and neck with George Jones for the broken hearted, hard drinkin, juke box playin, honky tonk C&W warbler. Check him out, you won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gary Stewart Music Lover, August 24, 2009

I thought I had them all until I came across a video on youtube for I Had to Get Drunk Lastnight. This cd has this song plus more that I had not heard. Gary's voice in songs just gets deep down in your soul and you feel what he is singing about. Broken Hearted People is also awesome, this cd is a must if you enjoy Gary's music.

If you read the bio of Gary Stewart you will enjoy this CD even more. I have always been a fan and was missing the title song on this CD and bought it for that reason. I was not disappointed with any of the other songs on this CD. If you like Gary Stewart you will love this CD.
