Of interest to parents who want to think outside the box for the future of their children,
By Midwest Book Review (Oregon, WI USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Out of the Mouths of Babes: Parenting from a Child's Perspective (Paperback)
Parenting is not a one way street. Children play perhaps the biggest part. "Out of the Mouths of Babes: Parenting from a Child's Perspective" is a different sort of parenting manual encouraging parents to parent reactively to their child's needs, as every child has a different personality and temperament. "Out of the Mouth of Babes" is of interest to parents who want to think outside the box for the future of their children.

Easy to read full of practical advice,
This review is from: Out of the Mouths of Babes: Parenting from a Child's Perspective (Paperback)
My own children are grown, but curiosity to read the work of a fellow Mom's Choice Award honoree prompted me to read this book.
When my daughter was a teenager, she was convinced that I, like all parents, must have read some official parenting manual. Of course, as parents we wish there was such a thing. Out of the Mouths of Babes helps us recognize there is indeed an official guide to parenting: that's the children themselves. Using personal accounts, the author illustrates ways to utilize the child's unique personality to parent appropriately. Mistakes as well as successes are shared with specific examples of children's behavior, often paired with situations faced by adults. In this fashion, readers learn to understand their child's perspective, while directing them along the journey toward maturity- with love and respect. Now that my daughter has children of her own, this book can be her guide to raise each according to their own needs.
