Brilliant Band, November 7, 2001
This review is from: Out There (Audio CD)
MQB is a positively brilliant band which has yet to attract the following they deserve. A cross mix of Ozric Tentacles, Pink Floyd with a smattering of Hawkwind makes this the finest space-rock group to come along in ages. Their live performances are something one must experience. While this is not their best work (Definitive Unsolved Mysteries of Mr. Quimby's Beard is even finer), it is something worthy of a spot in all collections

Mr.Quimby's Beard - 'Out There' (Demi Monde), January 7, 2004
This review is from: Out There (Audio CD)
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,WE ARE NOW BEING INVADED BY ALIEN BEINGS!! Mr.Quimby's Beard is a highly in-depth English five piece space rock ensemble that possesses more talent than you can shake a stick at.'Out There',every bit as much as their 'Definitve...' CD delivers everything you could possibly ask for.All nine tracks are a true winner!Plenty of well played riffs, echoing vocals, soaring synths, and an overall classic space rock vibe that makes the listener feel like he/she can jump several hundred feet in the air.To me,"Snake Dance" sounds like a possible soundtrack for a good science fiction movie."Reality" is a floating head tripper that shows just how Hardy's keyboard work pulls MQB's sound together.Just couldn't get enough of the soaring uptempo "Travelling","Another Visit" or the ten minute kraut-like "Try"(could easily be taken for an undiscovered Amon Duul II cut).Should appeal to fans of early Floyd,Ozric,Tribe Of Cro,Omnia Opera,Spacehead,and...........of course Hawkwind. However,be forewarned:this disc can frazzle your brain.Nice artistic cover, very eye catching.
