Desperate to keep him...

I've finally gotten everything I ever wanted: love, freedom, happiness, and, most importantly, Finn. Our love is everything I expected it to be and more. We've finally found each other, but the world seems determined to tear us apart. We thought my father was the only obstacle between us, but now it's the military. With Finn’s departure looming, we’re squeezing in every moment together before we run out of time.

Trying to make every moment count…

Being Carrie’s bodyguard was one thing. Being her boyfriend is another. Every day she’s mine is a day the sun shines in my life. Yet our time together is running out. Her father will never think a tattooed Marine will be good enough, so I’ll do whatever it takes to be worthy of her love. But the road will take me away from the girl who makes me feel alive--the girl I can't live without.

Time only gets us so far...

5.0 out of 5 stars I need more..and Soon December 2, 2013

Again, really, Jen McLaughlin....I'm going to have to wait again to find out more about Carrie and Finn. Major cliffhanger. I love Finn. He is the ultimate hero. He thinks that he isn't good enough for Carrie's family. Carrie's dad is who I would just love to choke. High and mighty senator!!!! Carrie and Finn go through so much in this book. Then bam...I have to wait for the next one to see what happens next. Love the dual POV's. Love how Carrie stood up to her dad. Wanting more.....

4.0 out of 5 stars Out of Time December 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this back to back with book one and what an awesome way to read it. Finn is still as swoon worthy as ever and Carrie starts to show a more grown-up side of herself making this a fun ride to be on. I say ride because this relationship is anything but smooth sailing. Misunderstandings, outside influences and running "out of time" all play into their love story. I really enjoyed the more prevalent use of secondary characters in this one and am hoping to see more from them in the next book. There was one part of this story that did not seem to work with book one for me, but being so engrossed in the characters made that not matter to me. Fair warning: This does not end with their HEA, but it does not end with an evil cliff hanger where you wonder who will live/die either. That being said, I want the next book NOW!!!!! If you have not read book one, you could probably catch up, but the emotional ties I had with the characters from their first book made this one much more enjoyable.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great characters, disappointing sequel. December 5, 2013
By Anne
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I loved the first book of the series, and I still adore Carrie and Finn as characters. With this book I just felt like a lot was empty filling leading up to rather predictible events. I found that a pity as I really like the author's writing style.

*Spoiler alert*

I'm a medical professional and I would probably have given the book one more star, had it not been for one very basic error. If his fibula had come straight out of his arm, he would have been in much bigger trouble. Fibula is in the leg and not in the arm. This error could have been prevented with a minimum of research so to me it was just unacceptable.

5.0 out of 5 stars 4.5 stars. Love Finn and Carrie! December 1, 2013
By K. Bias
Format:Kindle Edition
4.5 stars

This book begins right where Out of Line ended. They mystery of the phone call is revealed. Finn and Carrie finally have bared their secrets and are truly together. But now they have to face hiding their relationship from her powerful overprotective father who hired him as her bodyguard. And also deal with the possibility of Finn having to leave for deployment or assignment.

"This was a pattern in my life. The second things started to look up for me, s*** always blew up in my face."

They seem to be on borrowed time. Their fragile new relationship is tested. Their feelings are intense so the the thought of separating or loss is difficult and frightening for them both. They are trying to learn to truly be a couple during these stressful times and it is challenging and complicated.

Together they are seemingly opposite as she is a young college student and wealthy politician's daughter. And he is a tattooed, motorcycle riding, Marine/bodyguard. But they truly fit together and have a strong connection and chemistry. Finn is protective, caring, and devoted. Carrie is coming into her own, fighting more for what she wants and who she wants to be, and trying to come out from under her father's thumb. And Finn is trying to make plans for the future to make himself feel more worthy for the politician's daughter. Even though Carrie accepts him just like he is.

"F***, I love you. So damn much it scares she s*** out of me. I've never been scared of anything before. Guns. Surfing. War. But now I have the biggest fear of all--losing you."

But in trying to secure a future for them, will Finn ultimately lose it all?

I loved this book. I wont post any spoilers but I will say I was hoping for a good surprise and then my heart sank and I was in tears. You really feel like you know them and you are going through all the struggles and heartache with them. You can literally feel how in love they are. I can not wait to read the next book.
