This was on my sister's wish list and after reading the description, I was a little skeptical. I wasn't sure how much fun this would be but I figured I'd give it a shot. It would be a good break from our usual favorite, Cranium. It was a little slow at first since it takes some time to get used to giving commands, but once you play for a little while, it gets easier. The same goes for the person doing the drawing. Once you get the hang of it though, it is pretty close to Pictionary. One of the differences is that sometimes you can do a better job of guessing by listening to the person giving the directions than actually looking at the drawing. Sometimes it just doesn't translate well from spoken word to drawing, so listening helps. One of the funniest parts is seeing what the other teams' drawings look like after the round is over. It usually gives us some of the biggest laughs of the night. Let's just say some people are much better direction givers than others. :) All in all, it is a fun concept for a game. It is a good change of pace from some of the games in our normal rotation, but it didn't jump to the top of the list of favorites. It can be frustrating for someone who doesn't do a good job of verbalizing what is in their head, but we'll definitely play it again.

Backseat Drawing is a great game to play, it puts everybody on an even playing field. Because it is not a game about knowing information about one subject or another. It also helps develop communication skills. By making you explain something that the person you are explaining it to has no idea what it is your explaining.

I purchased this game last year for my 10 year old twins birthday party. Kids that hated playing games, loved playing it. It's a great game socially and lots of fun. We now play it as a family game.

I'm the organizer for the Orlando Game Night Meetup Group and we LOVE this game. Our game nights are not complete without it. It's a great game to learn (or relearn) communication skills. It does not matter if you are young or old, I think you will enjoy this game. It is just an overall great game and we appreicate Out ofthe Box games for supporting our Meetup Group.

This game is so much fun that everybody must have it in there homes. It is a game that even a 80 year old great grandpa played with his great granddaughter and had tears running down his face from laughing so hard. It's a game that can bring a family together, so please go out and buy it. It has brought my family and friends together with tears running down our faces from laughing that is how much fun it is.

This game turned out to be a big hit with my family. And more difficult than it seemed. Describing what to draw, without giving away what the object is, does not come naturally. This game forces you to think differently about how to get your idea across. There were a lot of laughs and I can't wait to play it again.

Though not a winner of the coveted Mensa Select seal, Out of the Box Publishing Backseat Drawing Game was an entry at the 2009 Mensa Mind Games. Of all the games I reviewed that weekend, this is one of the ones I knew my family would enjoy the most. Once I got home, I bought Out of the Box Publishing Backseat Drawing Game and it has been a BIG hit with the family! So far those playing here at home have been two guys (ages 19 and 47) and three girls (ages 13, 19 and 38).Out of the Box Publishing Backseat Drawing Game is somewhat on the order of Pictionary, but with a definite twist... The person drawing has no clue what the answer is! One player from each team gets to see the answer and then has to instruct their partner on what to draw, without using words to make it obvious what the answer is. The artist and any other team members then have to decipher the drawing and come up with the correct answer. This game is a LOT of fun and definitely a challenge!

My Niece and her husband brought this game with them when they visited last summer and my family had a blast playing it. My kids, 11 and 13 loved it so much my 11 yr old asked for it for Christmas. We of course bought it and BOTH kids wanted to play it before the rest of the un wrapping was finished! We played for probably 2 hours and even had grandma and grandpa playing. It's fun, competitive, and will make you laugh to no end. Basically one person tries to get a second person to draw something that they have no idea what they are drawing while a THIRD (or more) person is trying to guess what the second person is drawing while the whole time the first person is the only one who knows what subject is. both teams are doing this at the same time and whichever team guesses first gets the point.

Left, no, your other left! now draw a small, flat-shi circle coming from the top...eerrr!that's the kind of stuff you hear from this game. It's really not a drawing game at all, but a communication and direction-giving game. Hilarious to see how couples, families, and strangers take on the task of actually getting some information across! |
