Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Their highly respected debut album garnered much international acclaim, especially in the UK, allowing Canadian 4-piece Coney Hatch to unleash an even more impressive sophomore release. Issued in 1982, and produced by English maverick Max Norman (Ozzy Osbourne, Megadeth), the band succeeded in crafting an album that many regard as their greatest work. Combining the best of both worlds (melody and muscle) into one remarkable package, Outa Hand went on to establish Coney Hatch as arguably the most endearing and successful Canadian rock acts of the eighties. This remastered edition features 11 total tracks including the 2 bonus tracks 'Your Kinds Love' & 'Nobody Gives You'. Rock Candy. 2005.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Stuff-One of the truly great Rock Bands to come outa the 80's!, September 25, 2007
By S. A. Gilchrist (Charlotte, NC) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I was a teenager in the 80s, and I remember hearing these guys for the first time. I was a young 16-yr. old guitarist and ended up playing in various, local bands. When I heard "Devil's Deck", the raw guitar and bass, the whole raw classic sounding mix all-around hit me like a freakin' boulder man! I love these guys! I spread the Coney Hatch love with anyone who'd listen. I got the debut through import years ago, but have waited for "Outa Hand" ever since. I have the LP & cassette-versions, & burned to a CD to get me by, but I had to have the CD-release. Awesome even without the bonus tracks, but cool they added those. From the punch of 'Don't Say Make Me' and melody of 'First Time..', to the rockin' 'Some Like It Hot' & the catchy 'Fallen Angel' to the nice, smooth, feel-good ballads 'To Feel The Feeling Again' & 'Music Of The Night', there is not a bad track here. And as great as a debut goes, it is often difficult to follow-up with a release with the same caliber, but there's no need talking-up an album that speaks for itself-they truly picked up right where they'd left off here! I want ALL of the demos that exist, so Carl, Andy, Steve...hear me?~cough it up! No kiddin'! I have a bus-load of tunage, but there isn't a mood or time I can't pull out some Hatch and CRANK IT! This definitely is better the lounder the volume. I love the mix in vocal styles..with the raw energy of Carl and the uniqueness of Andy's voice. These guys along with Black 'N Blue were both under-rated bands that could hold their own against better than most of a lot of the others who reached a higher plain...commercially maybe, but certainly not necessarily musically--It's all about timing I guess...I mean 'Quiet Riot' was the 1st Metal band to have the #1 album in America...look, they're OK, but they're no CONEY HATCH-then again, there's only one-One of the truly great rock bands that came outa the 80's, and not just from Toronto, any band from anywhere! I'm down in N.C., and unfortunately never got the chance to see them live(although I did see the Iron Maiden 'Piece of Mind' tour, but the opening act ironically was Quiet Riot...C.H. must've stayed with Maiden only on the northern dates), so as I doubt a reunion would ever happen, I'll keep my eyes opened...Coney Hatch definitely got it done-glad to finally have this in the collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally edited!!!, June 20, 2006
By Alejandro Romero (Mexico City, Mexico) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I can't believe they finally edited this album!! I'm a die hard Coney Hatch fan and this is the missing piece I was looking for! I didn't remember this album was this good, I mean, I have the "Best of Three" album, which includes the first five songs from "Outa Hand", and those are exactly the songs I liked the most back then, but since this album had never existed before in CD format, I haven't listened to it in years (I have the LP and a wored out cassette), but thanks to this edition I rediscovered "Too far gone", "Love games", "Fallen angel" and "Music of the night". But if the edition of this album for the very first time on cd wasn't just enough a reason to buy it right away, let me tell you that it includes three great bonus tracks (even the demo "Fly on", in its rough mix, is a great adition to the Coney Hatch legacy). Two of the bonus tracks are sung by Carl Dixon ("Nobody gives you", "Fly on"), and other by Andy Curran ("Your kinda love"). The sound of this remastered version is clear and powerful at the same time, and it also includes a 16-page colour booklet with no so many photographs as I had wished (maybe eight or so), no lyrics, but with very interesting comments behind the "Outa Hand" album provided by Carl and Andy. Either you love'em or not, if you like straight hard rock with a touch of melody, you should give it a try, you won't regret it.
Long live Coney Hatch!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars No frills Canadian rock-n-roll, August 23, 2007
By Greg A. McCarthy (Middleton, MA USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
It is great to see this album remastered and available on CD. These guys from Toronto produced some of the best hard rock of the '80s. I highly recommend this cd as well as the first album which is self titled (as well as produced by Canadian rock legend Kim Mitchell)!
