The summary on the back is a little misleading. From what I read, I felt the plot was going to follow a country girl, who was forced into business world, and having a handsome hero helping adjust to her new life with a few problems sprinkled here and there. But after reading the prologue, I knew it was going to be a more complicated story line.

Francesca Forsyth was an artist and a great philanthropist for the aborigine art. Then suddenly, things changed. When the great Frank Forsyth, her grandfather, suffered a major heart attack, he left her half of the billion dollar empire. Bryn Macallan, a life time friend and secret love, was the natural choice to take over half the Forsyth's empire. Bryn have always loved Francesca, but for familial reason, she refused to further their relationship. Soon, Francesca's life was in peril. Will they able to unmask the culprit in time?

Margaret Way is gifted writer. I have read her earlier works and I liked them. But this one, I was disappointed. Like I said, after reading the prologue, I knew how the rest of the plot was going to pan out: boring. The writing was very wordy and detailed oriented, dealing mostly with the descriptive nature of the outback or the heavy thoughts of the main characters. There isn't much action and very little romance between Francesca and Bryn. I thought Bryn was charming and patient but like most people he had his faults. The side characters were apt and predictable in their roles. My only major gripe was the heroine. Francesca was plain annoying and unbelievable. She was the goody two shoes, always seeing the good side of people and never the bad. Despite branching out on her own and making a success of her in the world, she lacked maturity and guile that I would have expected. This could be a more interesting story if she sprinkled the intrigue throughout the story instead of saving everything for the last 2 chapters. It was okay read, but I wouldn't have bought it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another book where the "hero" sleeps with both cousins, July 5, 2009
This book is about a wimpy, goody goody, woman who is so talented and beautiful, but so truly insecure. Francey, is name joint heir by her grandfather and must work with Bryn Macallan the other heir in the family business. Bryn Macallan has already slept with Carina, Francey's cousin who she was raised with after her parents death. He slept with her even though Francy and he had a special bond since childhood. Bryn Macallan, like the hypocritical bastard he is decides he wants sweet innocent Francey to be his lover because he "loves her". (yeah if the man I loved slept with my cousin.... I think I would see a counselor).
