This is a fantastic overview of OBE. A must read for ANYONE concerned about the education and future of our kids.

Common core testing is the grandchild of OBE. CC is in most schools, and can be linked to Agenda 21/"sustainable" / go green theology. Those that don't agree with draconian gov/big daddy control are chastised - teachers that don't teach so CC testing is passed, are fired - children can advance to next grade level without knowing basic math and science, but they must be able to answer the essay questions correctly for advancement to next grade. - good passing grades/feel good practices for dumbing down America - Remember, we are a global society/spread the wealth. America must be remade with the help of the progressives.
utah and ohio are against common core
democrats against agenda 21 - type in search box, also many youtube videos

This book has a great deal of information about Outcome based Education. To me Outcome based education is what is destroying America.

The book highlights concerns about OBE, but doesn't do a very good job of describing the benefits of outcome-based education. For example, the book highlights that FACTS are over looked in OBE, the assumption being that it is useful to know the facts themselves.
OBE tends to say that facts in and of themselves are not very useful, however it is useful to know how to apply the facts. Knowing that water boils at 212 deg. F isn't so useful, that's just a number that you can memorize and only applies to water at sea level, and that is the very sort of FACT that this book says is important.
However if you know that water turns into steam at some temperature and that the temperature at which it does that varies because of air pressure you can use that understanding to consider that you need to boil macaroni longer at high elevations in order to cook it properly. That is the higher order thinking that the book belittles.
