White Snowblower, February 23, 2008
This review is from: White Outdoor 5.5 HP 4-Cycle Single Stage Snow Thrower # 31AS2B5-790
Product was received poorly packaged with scratches and dents. I tried to get Amazon to take it back twice and they refused. The ignition keys were missing, which the manufacturer finally provided no charge. I then started it up and used it.
At this point Amazon offered to take it back, becuase I rated my purchasing esperience very negatively. By then several weeks had passed, and I had used it, and disposed of the shipping carton. It was also full of gasoline and oil, which cold not be shipped (fire hazard). In use snow throwing ability is poor, especially versus my previous White unit which was cheaper and less powerful.
Now it is leaking gasoline just after one use and needs to be repaired. My suggestion is not to mail order equipment of this type but buy locally where service would be better, and buy another brand.

Very Disappointed, December 10, 2011
This review is from: White Outdoor 5.5 HP 4-Cycle Single Stage Snow Thrower # 31AS2B5-790
After a sizeable snowfall in February two years ago, this was the only model left at a local Ace Hardware under $700. It came highly recommended by the store owner, so I purchased it based on that alone. It's the worst-performing snowthrower I've ever used. It starts easily, but beyond that, it's almost useless. The chute clogs up continuously, unless you have dry, light, powdery snow, which we almost never get around here. It throws snow out the front of the machine instead of up through the chute, even when the chute is cleared. Not sure how the physics of that even works, but it happens constantly with this machine. There were several times I got so frustrated with it, I almost left it out in the street to be run over by a snow plow. My buddy told me the engine governor was causing it to run too slowly, and was therefore underpowered. Of course, the owner's manual has no information on adjusting the engine, and warns specifically not to tamper with the factory settings. I haven't decided if I should bring it in somewhere to see if can be made useable, or just cut my losses and buy something new.

Great little snowblower, February 7, 2011
This review is from: White Outdoor 5.5 HP 4-Cycle Single Stage Snow Thrower # 31AS2B5-790
This is a great little blower for the intended purpose, that being upto 2 or so inches of snow. This is our third winter with this little blower. It has never failed us with moderate snow fall. When we get larger amounts (more than 4 inches deep) we have to use the bigger blower, but, for the smaller amounts this one is great. Is lightweight and easy to start. Often my wife will have the driveway blown out before I get home from work. When we only had our big blower she wouldn't even look at it as it is heavy and very large.
