5.0 out of 5 stars Best Small Grill I've Ever Owned!
I live in a condo and my city has a restriction that small deck grills can't have more that a one pound cylinder. This grill meets that restriction and performs like a larger grill and more. I used it all summer and cooked burgers, steaks, a spatchcocked chicken (google that!), ribs, veggies, salmon, and shrimp. I mostly use the volcano position because of the intense...

2.0 out of 5 stars buyer beware . . . ., July 3, 2008
This review is from: Outdoor Chef - City Grill with Cradle (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased the City Grill here on Amazon based on the features and reviews. Used it twice with great results. On the third time, the regulator released gas as soon as I connected it to a gas canister. I called the Canadian rep and was told it was a safety feature in case the regulator gets too hot. I was also told it was very rare that the regulator to malfunction like that . . . just my luck, I guess. Since the rep was close to me in Toronto, I was optimistic about getting a replacement regulator . . . no such luck. I was told that the warranty parts centre for North America is now located in Florida. I called them and after not really knowing what to do, they finally agreed to ship a replacement to me. It's been 2 weeks . . . . . I'm still waiting . . . .
I'm not sure if this is indicative of the quality and support of Outdoor Chef . . . . but, I paid almost $200 for this grill and it's been sitting here collecting dust on my patio.

I mostly use the volcano position because of the intense concentration of heat. Took the grill camping and used it to boil coffee hooked up to a twenty-five pound cylinder. There's a "sweet spot" of heat adjustment between medium and high that's perfect for most grilling. I haven't yet purchased any accessories but I recommend the hose that lets you connect to a larger gas tank and I think the cast iron grill would be a great investment. If you plan on using it for camping or tailgating, the carry bag is a must have.

PROS:Easy to use, attractive, not a dinosaur on your patio.
CONS: Small gas tanks don't last long.

My husband and I live in a small townhouse and love to camp, and this grill is perfect for both grilling at home and at the campsite. It is easy to put together, easy to pack up to travel, and cooks food perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars awesome little grill, July 8, 2009
This review is from: Outdoor Chef - City Grill with Cradle (Lawn & Patio)
Although this cost quite a bit for a one burner grill, it does a great job. Its got a short stand so its close to the ground, but the grilling area is pretty big and I can lay down an entire tray of chicken at one time. It gets really hot, but it needs to since the flame is so far away from the food. That heat is channeled to your food through billows, which you can arrange in different ways depending how you want the food cooked. Those billows are what make this grill different from other grills. When I was a small kid my momma cooked in what looked like a large stone egg that opened up. This kind of cooks the same way as that egg except that its gas. The metal feels thick and solid and well made. Just by feeling it and without looking at the European nameplate, you know this was not made cheaply in China. I would recommend this to anyone in an apartment building, or who goes camping, or cooks alot of chicken since it does a damn good job. The mess associated with cooking outside on the grill is also channeled away by the billows into a small stainless steel cup that is easily removed. I would say the design is really innovative. I have only cooked steak once on it but I was hoping for the flames to kiss my steak, and that didn't happen although it cooked fast and I have no complaints about how the steak came out.

I have used for about a year and it is a very good grill. I use it year round and foods come out great. I especially like not having to worry about flame-ups. Accessories are pricey and lacking in quality, but the grill is fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Grill For a Condo, March 21, 2009

This review is from: Outdoor Chef - City Grill with Cradle (Lawn & Patio)
This just arrived yesterday. I quickly picked up some steaks and got down to business. I was really impressed. It's actually a lot bigger than I expected. The perfect size to grill for 1 to 4 people. It does sear a steak quite well and it cooks evenly. The only problem I had was the cooking area in "volcano mode" is only big enough for 2 steaks at a time but it cooks them so fast that it wont matter.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disapointed, October 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Outdoor Chef - City Grill with Cradle (Lawn & Patio)
I purchased this grill on Amazon after checking several different vendors and distributors. One thing that I noticed was that you could you buy the grill by itself, or you could buy it in a "package" , which included several extras or options, such as a carry case and custom built in grill pans that came from the manufacturer. The advertisement on Amazon indicated that the "package" was what was being offered, but when the grill arrived, it was only the grill itself. Further, it was obvious that the grill had been opened several times. The grill itself is a good product, the problem is the "bait and switch" advertizing from Amazon or its vendor. I am going to keep the grill because sending it back is a hassle. Lets just say that Amazon is good for buying books. Beware what you order.
