best all around field knife,
This review is from: Outdoor Edge WT-10 Whitetail Skinner T-Handle Allows Use Of Both Hands without Setting The Knife down Complete with Full Grain Belt Sheath (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've had many of the finest field knives but when it comes to field dressing any big game, the Outdoor Edge Whitetail Skinner is the ultimate. Not only for skinning and caping, but the entire process. Cutting out the insides, especially the diaphragm and any connective tissue. It's heavy blade goes right through the breast bone with just a straight point whack. Many of my hunting buddies have bought these knives, since they've seen and used mine to clean their game. You can clean several deer before having to think about sharpening, and the blade STAYS sharp, unlike many that dull during one field dressing.

Much smaller than the Game Skinner...,

This review is from: Outdoor Edge WT-10 Whitetail Skinner T-Handle Allows Use Of Both Hands without Setting The Knife down Complete with Full Grain Belt Sheath (Tools & Home Improvement)
This one sports a 2 & a half finger hold with thumb rest versus the 3 & a half finger hold w/ thumb rest of the Game Skinner. The Whitetail still has a fairly decent palm swell in comparison to the anemic palm swells of Outdoor Edge's hand saws. This skinner was definitely meant for people with smaller hands. Perhaps a more appropriate name would have been Rabbit Skinner or Squirrel Skinner as opposed to Whitetail Skinner... maybe Bambi Skinner LOL.CRITICISMS They should have stuck with the sheath style of the Game Skinner with the side snap as opposed to the top loading sheath with the top snap for the WS. This Whitetail Skinner does not fit its sheath as well as the GS fits its sheath. The gut hook portion of the knife rubs against the top part of the sheath & will probably wear a hole in the sheath after years of use. Surprisingly, the Whitetail will fit into the larger GS sheath with very little or no movement once it is snapped into place. I was initially disappointed that the belt loop was smaller on the WS, however it is still big enough to fit the 1.75" Web belts that I like to wear in the field (Blackhawk CQB/Riggers). It is made in Japan as opposed to being made in the USA.
