The Outdoor Kama Sutra: A Photographic Guide to Bringing Passionate Lovemaking Out of the Bedroom and Into the Great Outdoors

I'm still unsure what made me pick up a copy of this book, after all, how many hundreds of books have been written claiming to be able to provide the path to the enlightenment via the Kama Sutra (as opposed to the release provided by just a right good bonking)? If you've never had anything to do with the Kama Sutra and making your sexuality a beautiful adventure with a Loved partner towards a spiritual unity via your lovemaking skill and expression, this is an OK publication I guess, but nothing more.

I'm still scratching my head as to why it's called `outdoor', most of it just being same stuff as all the other texts but in props outside. Huh? Even just a caution about stinging nettles in the bush, mosquitoes if under waterfalls on the full moon, bee hives, Sunburn, crocodiles, and keeping sand out of the moving parts on the beach would have made it seem less like an attempt to just cash-in on the current wave of interest in the Kama Sutra.

There are cheaper, tackier publications available, with grainy, high contrast indistinct photography giving a grubby (.....) feel, as if they were taken by a voyeur with a box brownie accompanied by text written by an equally classless buddy who felt using spiritual jargon and terms somehow qualified them as enlightened. Happily `The Outdoor Kama Sutra' is at least streets ahead of that genre.

However I do believe there are also better publications than this one, this one being quality printing, good photos and text but mostly forgettable. From the publications I've read, if someone was looking at this book I'd suggest instead they buy `The Essential Kama Sutra' (isbn 1-898998-67-1). My recommended book has much more a sense of celebration, feels more organic and saturated with a sense of fun. `The Essential Kama Sutra' is more likely to have you loving your own sexuality, your partner/s and maybe even deepening your understanding of the Kama Sutra, Tantric practices etc. The difference between `The Outdoor' and `The Essential' is like the difference between being in the classroom and in the playground!! If at the same time you can incidentally deepen your spirituality and connectedness with life and your loved ones, COOOOL!!!

Love life, give yourself fully to your partner but I'd only be buying this book if it was the last of the higher quality texts available to you at the time and you couldn't wait for the next shipment of even better publications.
