From the Manufacturer

Outdoor Tech Tags Wireless Bluetooth Earbud Headphones

Outdoor Technology logo
Outdoor Tech Bluetooth Earbuds
Hi-fi sound and built-in mic

The Tags are wireless, Bluetooth earbuds ready for the trail. Or college. Or your old bunk bed when you're home for Thanksgiving. Hey, we support you. Fashioned to hang like dog tags when not in use, they feature the same rubberized finish as many of the other products in the OT line. Listen to music, skip tracks and control volume, all without touching your Bluetooth device.

Fully Wireless, Fully Portable

The Tags wirelessly connect with your smartphone, tablet, laptop, or any other Bluetooth-enabled device. They stream crystal clear audio for a range of up to 30 feet for 6 hours on a single charge. So sure, you could go boating on your favorite pond with your laptop on the shore, provided your favorite pond is less than 30 feet wide. If this is the case, a larger pond may improve your life experience. But then you would be taking your laptop boating. Look pal, just find a bigger pond, I don't even know what we're talking about.

Built-in Call Functionality

When connected with your smartphone, the Tags' built-in microphone allows you to make and receive hands-free calls from anywhere, any time. So now you can dominate the seesaw and trade a few stocks at the same time. We support your pastimes.

Jump Around

The Tags come with a set of removable over-ear sport clips. Now those suckers will stay in place whether you are ruling the bouncy castle or ditching your slow buddy during the Zombie apocalypse. Yeah, we know you were thinking about it. Help him or her out though, you might get lonely later.

The Sky is the Limit

The Tags are practically limitless. Not only do they feature Hi-fi sound that delivers your favorite sing-alongs with the same satisfaction as a perfectly bronzed grilled cheese sandwich, they look cool just hanging around your neck. Cool like, I-support-sweatpants-in-the-workplace cool. Maybe that's not cool. They just look cool; you need to stop reading into things so much, it's honestly starting to cause a problem.

These really made my day today. After researching bluetooth headphones for the gym, there were not a lot of options. I tried the Motorola S10hd and had to return due to fit. I looked temporarily at the Jaybird Sportsband, and just was not comfortable wearing that much gear at the gym - so I searched a bit for bluetooth earbuds, but only found the Jaybird BlueBuds - but were not yet released. Came across a random forum and someone mentioned this product, checked it out and gave it a shot.

I am extremely glad I did. These things are amazing for gym workouts. First off, they are comfortable. Being earbuds, you can adjust them really nicely and they come with 3 different sizes of in ear attachments for fitting. The Second thing that hit me was how fast and easy the set paired with my BT transmitter. Along with that, the buttons are really well laid out and it feels like a very high quality product. Thirdly, the sound that these things kick out rival my $150 Monster Turbine wired ear buds - I was stunned at the clarity of the highs and bass response from these!!! Totally made my day. I workout on an elliptical at the gym for about an hour 4-6 times a week and also mix in 15mins of weight lifting, and these things were so comfortable during my workout I even wore them walking out of the gym, in my car and driving all the way home - about an hour and a half total. Finally, I love the dog tag styled thread that holds them together and lets you sport them around your neck. Very stylish and well thought out. I really can't say enough about this product, I am stunned. The only negative I have is the packaging (while looks great) is really tight and takes a little to get the product out of the box.

First of all, I'm on my second pair, they replaced it with no issues. Be careful when wrapping the cord to not bend too close to the earbud. Over time I believe this is what caused my left earbud to start cutting out. For the size of the earbuds there should be a better strain relief built in.

Now onto the review. Coming from some S9's these are a huge improvement. I'm using them with a Samsung Vibrant on CyanogenMod 7. They connect quickly and I don't remember having any loss of connection issues for even a moment. I'm not an audiophile and I spend most of my time listening to audiobooks and podcasts, but when I have listened to music it's sounded great. The call quality is great I've heard no complaints from the other end. My biggest complaint is the proprietary charger. It's only slightly smaller than a standard micro-usb and I haven't found a backup yet.

Running: I feel the earhooks are necessary (I just leave them on all the time anyway) to keep them in. I don't get a perfect seal in my ear, so I don't hear my feet hitting the ground and I can get some sound in from the outside. The volume rocker is entirely too loose and the first time you use it, it'll drive you crazy. I recommend taking a piece of scotch tape folding it in half so there's no open adhesive, trimming it size and jamming it between one side of the rocker and the housing. I mentioned previously that I have no connection problems and I tend to wear my phone on my left arm (which is opposite the side of the headphones with the bluetooth radio.

Ordered two pairs of these headphones for myself and my 18 yr old son. We both are very pleased. They are very comfortable and, although they come with optional over-the-ear clips, they stay secure in our ears without the clips. The bass is great and the high notes are just as good.

The only cons:
1 The battery only lasts about 5 hours (won't work for a full day of work) and in "Stand by" mode the battery loses its charge in about 36 hours.
2 The connection to charge the headphones is not a standard Micro USB so if you lose the cord it comes with you're out of luck

The sound quality is great and after several months of heavy use the battery lasts well.
Occasionally the sound does cut out seemingly sporadically but it's nothing too sway my opinion that these headphones are worth the price.

On another the charger for this is NOT a micro usb, but rather a UC-E6 connection. A micro usb cable will not work with this and when I lost the cable that comes with the headphones I was out of luck.

Some research revealed that the cable needed is a UC-E6 which I bought off of amazon from Nikon.

I've been very pleased with these earbuds so far. They're lightweight, feel comfortable in your ears, and the wire between them is designed so as to stay out of your way. The battery life could stand some improvement (I usually get around 4-4/12 hours), but that's not a deal breaker since I only use them in the gym. A few other reviewers mentioned the audio quality. The trained listener may notice a very slight decrease in quality, but that will be the case with any wireless connection. To me, the quality is still excellent even with that. For a casual user who wants to eliminate a few wires, these are a great investment.
