4.0 out of 5 stars What!?! Reviews are like .... Everyone has one. June 21, 2011
Color Name:Assorted
I wrote these bags off due to the "hey these bags are okay to store items but don't count on them being waterproof". That was my first mistake, i'm like everyone else reading these reviews. Cheap & lazy to a point, [i guess.]

Maybe we want someone else to spend the $$$ and find out its not the item we wanted =) Do our leg-work for us.

Okay so Lets go.

As usual: my better half is to be praised.

She noticed i was looking at these on amazon one day and filed it away. She returned some days later from our local wal-mart with a pack of these dry sacks. =) My reaction was "oh dang, those bags are junk. people said they're not waterproof." Her reply was, oh well they're inexpensive or i can return them the next trip i make.

Hmmm..

As i had a staring contest with the small orange box [for the better part of 2 minutes]- I finally said, why not. Besides, I can find a use for anything. Even if its not what i set out for it to be.

I ripped that box open and began the experiment. Took a [huge] Non-environmentally friendly amount of tissue paper and jammed it into the smallest bag. Removed the air much like one would storing food in a freezer bag. sealed it up & completely submerged it under water by weight of 20lbs (its what i had handy.) I then returned from watching a 30min tv show. Removed it from the dunk. Dug into that bag like it was Xmas. Only to find....DRY tissue paper!?! What!?! but this cant be??? People said these bags arn't waterproof. The PEOPLE said so. This couldn't be. Took that same tissue paper (still dry)... you guessed it, on to the next larger bag. Same test, same result. Last but not least the largest bag...Yep same result. bone dry.

Dry. Dry. Dry.

Even the slightest water will soak tissue paper,am i right? [I'm talkin' pooper paper here]

=( ...but the people said.

I hope you enjoyed this sarcastic review. it was all in fun.

the takeaway is that my beautiful wife gets 2 points & I'm glad i performed this little test on these. Inexpensive, KEEPERS. If i had something so expensive that i MUST keep dry... If your worried maybe double bag them with 2 of the 3 you get. one inside the other. Better yet Ziplock bags or whatever eases your mind. As stated, I DID NOT BUY theses from here. They were a lil' gift from my wife =) via local Wal mart.

Dry. I urge you to do your own testing. First hand knowledge is the best knowledge. Dry. Who knows, maybe the people didn't seal the tops of the bags correctly. =) whoops!

These sacks are not completely "waterproof". I would not use them to protect a pda or cell phone when out canoeing. However, they are fairly water resistant, great for putting a wet bathing suit into or to keep your packed clothing dry in a drizzle.

They have a stiff flat metal piece across the top, you fold the top over a few times and click the buckle to fasten.

The green one is large enough for a pair of large size (mens 11) adult shoes. The orange one will fit a mens t shirt, a pair of shorts and some socks with a little stuffing. The blue one is good for toiletries.

Overall, great for the price, but not a something I would trust to keep my electronics dry during a dip in the river.

1.0 out of 5 stars almost dry sacks September 7, 2009
Color Name:Assorted|Amazon Verified Purchase
I thought the price for dry sacks was too good to be true - and I was right. These are ALMOST dry sacks. 1st trip out everything inside was moist - not wringing wet, but moist - nothing more enticing than a handful of soggy wet tissues. DO NOT USE to keep electronics dry! Best use is after the fact to store wet shoes or clothes for the trip home. Of course a plastic grocery bag does the same job and costs less. Disappointing purchase.
