This replacement bladder worked out fine.

The only good things I have to say about this bladder are that it does not impart that icky "plastic" taste to your water and the capacity is nice.

It is by far superior design and performance.

I purchased this bladder as a replacement for the Outdoor hydro pack I already own and love. I had to purchase the replacement because the bite valve started leaking within a month or two of purchase. At the end of my ride, I wasn't sure if I had more water down my leg and in my shoe than actually went into me ... Very poor design. It appears that they have improved the bite valve in the picture above, but it was the same old faulty one when it arrived. If you are purchasing this item as a replacement for the same reason, save yourself money and time by going to REI and buying a universal rubber replacement and stretch it over the threads where the old one screwed on.

The only good things I have to say about this bladder are that it does not impart that icky "plastic" taste to your water and the capacity is nice.

You will not find a better hydration unit. It does have a thread type hose you need to make sure they are tight when you fill, no brainer. You can buy an on/off valve for this unit as well. I had a problem with the bite valve too, but email outdoor products and they will send new ones for FREE!! Great company Great product.

I am on my third and last Outdoor Product bladder. The first two developed pinhole leaks in the hoses (one after only a month) and all three leak at the cap. I'm now shopping for a good brand name bladder.

Maybe I just got lucky, but I've had this hydration bladder for 7 years, with NO issues. I've used it on many hikes for many days over lots of miles. I'm diligent about cleaning, drying and storing it. For cleaning, I always use a lemon juice and baking soda combo. For drying, I place a scrap of PVC pipe in the opening to allow it to dry fully, disconnecting the hose and bit. The cleaning may seem over the top, but I am putting filtered stream/lake water into it on extended hiking trips.

However, I'm finally in need of purchasing a replacement part for this product. The bite value developed a leak. So for a $7.99 part investment, maybe I'll get 7 more years out of it. If the product fails more substantially, I won't hesitate at all to buy the exact same one.

My wife has been through 3 Camelbaks in the same timeframe. Go figure...

This is called a 'modular system' because one end of the tube screws(attaches) to the bladder. After stuffing the bladder into the pack, the screw easily loosens. Located at the bottom depths of the pack, it is not easily checked once inside the pack. Water pooled inside the pack, then driped out. Clothes were wet, and a significant amount of water lost from the bladder. This happened twice-what a mess! The mouthpiece has such a small slit, that when compressed, very little water comes out - suck HARD!. I also own a "******". It is by far superior design and performance.
