Product Description

Carrying water and tools while riding is not only important but necessary on a dual sport, hare scramble, or endurance race. The Outdoor Products Ripcord Hydration Pack carries all the tools and gear you need and has a comfortable fit.

The Outdoor Products Ripcord Hydration pack has a total of 4 zippered pockets of various sizes, most have dividers or straps in them to keep everything organized and in place. The largest pocket is big enough to carry 3 tire spoons, large zip ties, a KTM tool kit, and a spare tube. The smaller lower front pocket fits an air compressor, spare bolts, valve stem puller, multi-tool, air gauge and small roll of tape. The top pocket is perfect for carrying items that you need quick and easy like a cell phone, extra money, driver license. The fourth pocket can fit a poncho, spare batteries and memory cards. Another aspect that makes this hydration pack stand above the rest is the insulated water suction hose that comes with the pack and can attach to either the left or the right shoulder strap.

I feel this product provides excellent Value for the occasional biker or hiker. While cycling I had filled the hydration bladder with water and ice. I also carried a 32oz bottle of gatorade in the the storage area. There was still plenty of room for snacks, keys, clothes etc. I purchased a Sony portable CD player/radio. It fits nicely in a special compartment with the headphone wires coming out of a slot in the top of the pack. My radio also has a remote which is great when you don't want to stop.

The chest and waist straps hold the pack comfortably yet snugly to your body so it is not bouncing around.

The one negative that would report is the bladder hook. Rhis is what the bladder suspends from inside the pack. I think it should have a latch or something to hold it more securely. What I found is that when you take it off, it may slip off and then it pinches the hose which prevents drinking. I try to keep the velcro that closes that part of the pack close to the hook. This seems to help.

Overall though I am very pleased with my purchase.

I purchased this for a recent trip to Iceland. The bag arrived and in theory, this bag is awesome. I was happy with it upon arrival. However, within two days one of the straps teared off at the seam and was held on only by a string, and after another day, another strap teared completely off. There are many cool little compartments for various things, and the hydration pack part worked okay, but the quality and durability of the pack itself is crap. I basically bought it, used it for 10 days during my trip, the thing fell apart, and now I can no longer use it. Complete waste of money. SPend a little more and get a camelback.

i was almost about to buy a camelbak or high sierra pack with a 2 liter bladder for about $$60 or more till i found this product. i'll admit that i was a bit skeptical at first because i've never heard of outdoor products, and this pack looked almost exactly the same as some of camelbak's $100 plus backpacks. i got the product on time, paid $30, i've used it a number of times, and i absolutely love it. not too big but not too small, and with the 2 liter bladder i always have enough water for my biking and hiking. absolutely great product. if your looking for a great hydration pack for a half the price of its competitors, i would recommend this one

I chose the outdoor products hydration system as a replacement over the Camelbak primarily because it was less expensive. I chose wisely. The fill and hose connections are top quality and well made. I will stay with the system for the foreseeable future. The backpack has lots of pockets and zips and snaps efficiently without being overweight or bulky. The shoulder straps are sufficiently padded for day use and comfortable for hikes up to 10 hours (so far). The backpacks as upper and lower horizontal straps with clips to provide movement stability. The feature that I really like is the zippered pocket at the top of the pack. I can easily keep my phone or iPod safely in that pocket while still having access to them without the need to remove the whole pack. I'm really, really happy with my choice and I haven't hesitated to recommend this product to anyone looking for a hydration system.

My new pack is perfect for me. It has lots of pockets for carrying the bare essentials you need for a days hike but isn't too cumbersome. I wish the straps that go around your waist were a bit longer but maybe that says something about me needing to hike more...

So I purchased this pack right before I went on a 5 week trek across Europe. Has lots of pockets and can be easily extended to fit larger things in the main pouch. The water pack holds a fairly decent amount of water and is able to keep the water pretty cool for a good amount of time. The bottom of the water bag started leaking at one point but it was just because the hose had loosened, easy fix. The only con is that the water sometimes tastes like the rubber hose, but I think that may be an issue with any hydration pack. I had to adjust the external hose clip to a lower spot because there was a lot of excess hose which caused it to frequently come loose. Overall very durable (went through a lot of rough usage) and I was even able to attach a bongo drum that I had acquired half way through the trip without any complications. Good Product, especially for the price.

I needed a compact hydration pack for adventuring racing where I need enough storage to carry some basic gear, food, and equipment - but still keep things light and comfortable. A coworker has a Camelbak Mule, and when I saw it I felt that it was exactly what I needed. Until I saw the price tag.

My first impressions of the Ripcord are very positive. It has ample storage, one large pocket that goes the full length of the backpack and two smaller pockets at the top and bottom which are large enough for things like a wallet, cell phone, bike tire repair kit, snacks, etc..., and then one large exterior pocket on the rear under the main flap for carrying a bike helmet and maybe a water bottle. As far as I can tell, the pack is not waterproof or water-resistant - so anything in it will get wet if it rains. For a cheap bag this isn't a big problem, but a waterproof compartment large enough for your wallet and cellphone would be a nice touch.

The bladder did leak when I first filled it with water. The connection point between the drinking hose and the bladder is actually a threaded screw in connection - and all I had to do was tighten that up a bit. No leaking since then. I also have a 100oz bladder for a larger camelbak pack that I have - and the larger bladder fits into the ripcord bladder pocket with no problems.

Pros:
Light weight, comfortable, adjustable straps, ample storage, big zippers and clips making getting things in and out in a hurry easy, sternum strap can be adjusted up and down for best fit and comfort, the build quality seems excellent.

Cons:
waist strap is a bit higher than I would prefer, and I would like to have a bit more reflective piping (one reflective gray area stitched at the top of the pack). some of the straps are a bit excessive - so you end up having to either deal with a lot of hanging straps off the rear of the pack or find a way to tie them up.
