5.0 out of 5 stars Just what I was looking for!
This is a great backpack. I am an older student working on a 2nd Bachelor's Degree. It is very large and holds my textbooks and notebook. It has lots of pockets and great places to put individual items. I love the way it looks as well. The wheels are quiet. I've been using it 4 days a week for about 5 weeks and it seems to be holding up well. My last backpack had already...

This back pack is well made. I was looking for a pack that would roll. The handle is long enough that I don't have to bend over to pull it. I'm 5'8". The wheels I was especially concerned with and this has the durable roller-blade wheels that will last. Those rubber ones didn't last 3 months wheeling through a downtown metroplex every day. There are many compartments, more room inside the largest than I've ever had. I just wish it had something a little more handy for things like bus passes or parking cards. But it seems to be a good quality bag and is helping my back considerably.

5.0 out of 5 stars Ulta BIG Room to Anything !!!, November 10, 2006

This review is from: Outdoor Products Sea-Tac Rolling Backpack (Sports)
This backpack is as big as I need it. I use it primary to carry all my sound system center to my parties:

- Bose Companion 3 Multimedia Speaker System (1 Sub woofer, 2 Satellites).
- Toshiba Laptop, that is inside another protective padded bag.
- AC very long extension.
- Another very long extension cable for sound.
- USB portable hard drive.
- Optical mouse and its mouse pad.
- PCMCIA sound card.
- Manuals and magazines.
- All cables, adaptors, connectors and adminicles that came with each device.

After I put all of this inside, of course the backpack looks like a fat guy, but the important point is that I can carry all my stuff and I'm sure it is secure.

The option of the little wheels are great 'cause all my stuff is kind of heavy. And one last thing I want to say is that I LOVE all those little pockets that come inside and outside the backpack, they are VERY useful to organize many many many things that you need to carry with when you go out.

The backpack is sturdy and I expect it to last a long time. There are 3 features that I do not like and they are as follows:
1) There is a protective piece that covers the wheels & supports when it is used as a backpack (so that the wheels/support will not dirty your shirt while using it as a backpack). The piece needs to be bigger - it now barely covers the wheels/supports so the edge of the wheels/support still will dirty your shirt when using as a backpack.
2) The front pocket has 2 peep holes that has no purpose other than just for looks. However, this causes rain or water to sip into the pocket wetting the contents.
3) The top of the second pocket also has a slit that will let water or liquid to get into that pocket.
Otherwise it is a study backpack

5.0 out of 5 stars Large & Durable Rolling Bag, May 6, 2008

Large interior (expandable by an additional inch or 2), 4 pockets, long rolling handle (huge plus), and so far extremely durable. I carry at least 2 laptops and a scanner 5 days a week (sometimes 3 scanners and 1 laptop). I've had the bag for 2 months and it continues to hold up well. There is only very minor fraying of the fabric near the wheels where it's dragged. The handle on the top doesn't show any signs of giving out soon. The zippers are still in perfect shape. The wheels are very smooth and it manuvers well. This is truly a large bag though - not something you'd give to a kid in elementary school. The only drawback is that it doesn't quickly convert to a backpack - you have to unzip the straps and wrap the flap over the wheels. It's just not as easy as another rolling backpack I had. This is probably only a small concern for most, however. I don't have a problem with it (hence 5 stars).

3.0 out of 5 stars Bottom & 1/3 of lower back & side should be some type of hard surface!, September 21, 2009

My first impression of this bag was GREAT. It doesn't have as many little nick nack pockets as I would like, but it was definately big and roomy so the lack of little pockets was easy to over look.

Now, the problem was that after 10 minutes of rolling it on the first day of use it started to get wear holes along the bottom edges. The holes came from it scrapping the ground when being rolled.

I immediately packed it up and mailed it back. I had just assumed that this bag came with the corner guards or plastic lower half on the back and bottom like my previous rolling back packs. I was wrong.

If you're just looking for a big backpack this is defiantely it. If you're looking for more, don't get this bag.

5.0 out of 5 stars Everything I needed and then some!, March 15, 2010

I've just returned from this rolling backpack's maiden voyage and it did everything I wanted it to do and more! It has an incredible amount of room and wonderful solid, as well as mesh zippered, inner pockets to organize everything. It rolls easily and although I had it jammed full it never tipped forward, even though it looks like it could. I kept my zip-lock bag full of liquid items in the frontmost pocket, making it easy to take it out and place it in the airline search trays and then replace once we cleared security.

The only problem I had was that the handle sometimes didn't collapse all the way down without a fight; however, I discovered applying pressure in a certain direction while I pressed the button on the handle solved that problem.

Yup, I would buy it again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not durable enough for a 9 year old, October 21, 2009

I purchased this backpack about 1.5 years ago for my then 8 year old at his doctor's recommendation. His normal, over the sholder strap backpack, was putting too much stress on his back given all the books he had to carry home each day. The back pack arrived and my son promptly put it into use and has used it each day for the past 1.5 years. Unfortunately, it did not stand the test of time, as he would not always pick it up going up curbs so eventually the bottom part has ripped out. I would recommend the manufacturer put a plastic shield over the back part (between the wheels and continuing up several inches) to handle this use case--as my son's friends have done the same thing to their back packs. I have now purchased the JanSport Superbreak Wheeled Backpack and hope that it will be more durable as it has a plastic shield for "people to pull it over the curb and not just pick it up." At this price point, I'd like to see more than 1.5 years worth of use (hence the 3 star rating).

Pros:
--Very large, incredible number of different pockets to store gear.
--Rolls well, over different terrain (side walks, grass, etc).
--Handle is very sturdy
--Will reduce back strain as the adjustable handle will allow kids and adults to find the right place (provides 2 different adjustments)

Cons:
--Heavy even when empty, therefore never used the attached straps
--Handle difficult to put down (in fact we had to return it and get a replacement immediately after purchasing as the handle would not retract without putting your arm down the back pack and finding the small button to push in)
--No plastic shield between the wheels to prevent tearing to the fabric when pulled up curbs
--Falls forward when loaded so need to store it against a wall

I liked the backpack while it lasted, but it lasted only about 6 months, then the zippers broke =( The backpack is huge!! It easily fits a computer and clothes for a short business trip and rolls well

5.0 out of 5 stars Looking for more room?, August 31, 2009

Ordered this rolling backpack because the one I have was not large enough for all the books/binders & laptop I needed to carry. Back zipper flap contains backpack straps w/fold down flap/pocket on outside for identification. It stands about 22" high and about 14" wide across the back. Features include: double bar telescoping handle which makes it stable, beefy rubber handle on the top & side of bag, cell phone zippered pocket on ri side, large 8" tall mesh pouch on left side. Main inside compartment contains large vertical zippered mesh pouch on one side (10"x6") and another large mesh pouch on opposite side (water bottle). Also has 2 accordian pouches approx 6" x 7" and a zippered mesh pouch above that (12"x6"). This compartment alone holds my 2" thick book, two 1" binders & two 1/2" paper notebooks & xtra water bottle. Second compartment fits laptop (though not padded). Third compartment(10"x13") has a small padded pouch inside it (calculator/game sys?). Smallest pouch in front has a pocket and below that is a small zippered mesh pocket w/placement for pen/pencils/credit cards/ID. Quiet wheels. Very happy with this purchase and a bargain at that.
