I used this repeater to boost a week 802.11G wifi router and repeat the signal to adjacent home. The weak wifi router sits in my office. The signal travels 50ft through 3 walls to the EOA3630 in the garage. Then the EOA3630 repeats the signal 150ft through the garage walls, outside, into the other home and is picked up by another repeater (ERB9250) inside the second home. The ERB9250 is used to broadcast the 802.11G signal to the entire house. My very old 802.11G laptop needs this. My new Dell laptop could get by without the ERB9250 in some parts of the 2nd house. My DSL speed only starts out at 3Mbs so I can't afford any signal loss and these Engenius repeaters work great!

Pros: the EOA3630 is easy to set up, physically easy to install. It has a signal meter on the outside of it so you can see if you are in range of your source signal. This receiver can be fitted with other type N antennas. This will help you boost your signal more. It does come with a decent external antenna. Just Google EOA3630 antennas for other options. The EOA3630 uses Power Over Ethernet correctly so you can use a crossover cable (not provided with the EOA3630 but is provided with the ERB9250) and 2nd CAT5 cable to plug the EOA3630 into your laptop for initial configuration.

Cons: Non so far.

Note: You probably need to understand how to configure a router in order to have trouble free set up. I didn't use the set up disk so hopefully that would help users that need their hand held during setup.

This is a piece of junk. I have the access point mounted inside with the antenna mounted on top of my roof. It broadcasts about 200' to an antenna attached to my computer which sits in a window sill so there are virtually no obstructions. It constantly goes down and has to be reset in order to make a connection. Then it quit 3 months after the warranty expired. I do not recommend this product to anyone.

I used this at a vacation home to supply wifi for a wifi thermostat we have, but have a weak wifi signal. The repeater did a great job grabbing the weak signal. My only issue is the instructions are not all that detailed, hence the lower rating. Other than that, very pleased with the product!
