5.0 out of 5 stars An underrated book!
The author of this book isn't a von Daniken wannabe-- since when did being a good scientist make someone a wannabe? Furthermore, contrary to what the reviewer below has said "they" are not scheduled to return on Christmas 2011-- where in the book does it say that "they" are scheduled to return? 2.0 out of 5 stars Unscientific
Seeing how this book was written around 1974, most of its "mysteries" have probably now been solved. Here's a tip: don't waste your time on this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars An underrated book!, December 2, 2000
This review is from: Outer Space Connection (Paperback)
The author of this book isn't a von Daniken wannabe-- since when did being a good scientist make someone a wannabe? Furthermore, contrary to what the reviewer below has said "they" are not scheduled to return on Christmas 2011-- where in the book does it say that "they" are scheduled to return? What the book really says is that "the cycle began in 3113 B.C.; it will close in the year 2011 A.D. And the date? December 24. That's right. Christmas eve, 2011 A.D." The cycle the author is referring to is an ancient Mayan calendar, that's all, he doesn't say anything about "them" returning.

Lastly, this book is not "replete" with errors of logic. Pyramid energy HAS been scientifically proven, it's even been patented. And about there being no kernels of food in the pyramid: there weren't any kernels of food found inside the king's chamber inside pots and things. This doesn't mean there wasn't a single kernel in the WHOLE pyramid. Basically if you wan't the facts straight just read the book for yourself.

1.0 out of 5 stars A von Daniken wannabee, February 18, 2000

(REAL NAME)
If you are a von Daniken fan, if you are a Velikovsky fan, then you'll just love this book for the authors Alan and Sally Landsburg are von Daniken wannabees.

Their basic premise is that humans are the result of extra-terrestrial immortals that came to earth thousands of years ago as colonists and that we have lost their secrets of immortality over the ages. They are due to return on Christmas eve 2011. The evidence for most of this exists only between the ears of the authors.

Like von Daniken the book is replete with errors of logic, errors of fact and with improbable leaps of faith. He thinks the ancient Mayans did cardiac transplantation. He is an ardent fan of pyramid power, vaguely described as a mysterious biocosmic energy. A careful reading of the book yields numerous contradictions. He thinks he sees a high water mark on the side of the pyramid made by Noah's flood, despite the fact that in the 9th century CE the limestone facing was removed from the pyramid to build Cairo's mosques. He says that the Great Pyramid was completely empty, not even a kernel of food, and then a page later says that 5,000 year old grain found in the pyramid immediately sprouted. He claims that dead animals in the pyramid naturally mummify, that the flesh does not decay. This has been experimentally shown to be false, of course.
