Editorial Reviews

About the Director

Robert Greenwald is the leading director of issue oriented documentary films, including Wal-Mart: The High Cost of Low Price, Uncovered: The Whole Truth About The Iraq War, The Real McCain, and Iraq For Sale: The War Profiteers.

Product Description

The genre-busting documentary hit that started the flood of issue-oriented documentaries is back, just in time for another crazed season of political news coverage in the build up to the 2008 presidential election. The original film is just as relevant and necessary today as it was in 2004, supplemented by over an hour of additional material, including the infamous Fox Attacks, a series of 18 short videos that continues the work started in Outfoxed, highlighting examples of Fox's biased, dishonest journalism. The videos were created to support campaigns, petitions, and legislation.

Each Fox Attacks short is supplemented by illuminating commentary exclusive to this DVD from Robert Greenwald and the producers of the films.

Outfoxed examines how media empires, led by Rupert Murdoch's Fox News, have been running a race to the bottom in television news. This film provides an in-depth look at Fox News and the dangers of ever-enlarging corporations taking control of the public's right to know.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well researched documentary!, February 22, 2009
Outfoxed isn't aesthetically pleasing as far as cinematography or visual effects. My guess is the budget went to research and fact checking. What the film lacks in imagery, it makes up for in credible interviewees and the profound sound bites they provide.

One main theme I took from the film is the concept that Fox News claims to be the leader in fair & balanced journalism, when it is proven time and again to be incredibly unfair and remarkably unbalanced; so much so that one can hardly call it journalism. Unfortunately, Fox's technique proves to be good for ratings, causing other networks to loosely follow Fox's lead in the industry, thereby "outfoxing" other networks and incidentally, their viewers.

It's not as fun to watch as a Michael Moore piece, but it's much less slanted and much more serious; therefore (in my opinion) more credible. It is a MUST SEE for those dedicated to Fox News. Challenge yourself.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great information!, October 23, 2009

Fox is a terrible news network. The employees are exploited and threatened and bad and even fake news is glorified. The other news networks aren't any better at all, but Murdock has gone about single-handedly destroying objective news.

The DVD ends up with a liberal bent which I do not agree with at all, but the main documentary is free of a political viewpoint and just offers information that just cripples FNN.

This is another reason why my family and I no longer watch TV at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes you question all of the television media., September 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I stopped watching Fox along time ago because the bias on the channel was so blatant and one sided. I would turn it back every now and then to see what O'Rilley was complaining about I completely went cold turkey when I saw O'Reilly go after a guy that had his dad killed in the 9/11 attack and he kicked him off of the show for stating his opinion. This was one of the stories in this DVD. I found out afterwards from this DVD that O'Rilley was slandering this guy by making things up about him. They also would invite people on their shows just to verbally attack them and try to make them look stupid. This DVD talks to people that had worked for Fox News early on to show how they pushed the reporters to spin things a certain way and repeat things over and over i/e John Kerry as a flip flopper when he was running against Bush for Presidency. It also has an interview with Walter Cronkite which he stated the sad state of affairs in media with Fox at the helm.
I was completely disgusted after I watched this documentary that this can go on in America. Fox news is not a news organization it is basically a propaganda machine for the extreme right wing. The thing that made me more sad was when all of the other news channels fell inline with Fox which made me untrusting of all American media outlets. That is on this DVD too.
I normally watch BBC news and Reuters now since I trust them way more than CNN, MSNBC, CBS or ABC news.
Watch this and it will make question all news that's being fed to you.
