I origonally bought this CD on the strength of the film Outland, its one of my favourite Sean Connery movies & I always liked the music, the CD also has the Capricorn 1 soundrtack which is a good bonus, both feature the usual touches of goldsmith, excellent action cues, nice moments of calm, moments of suspense etc, a good example of this being The Message on Outland, from a deleted scene from the film this cue was written for a scene where Connerys character reacts to his wife leaving him, its a slow & quite nice track which conveys nicely Connerys characters sadness. My favourite track on Outland is Hot Water, the music to the exiting chase scene in the film, while the main theme to Capricorm 1 is memorable in itself, the Cd also features a couple of unused tracks from both movies, this I feel is always a bonus. A good buy, especially for fans of the films.

As opposed to most "movie music", this merits listening all by itself, preferably with a good wine and the light down low. Stunning imagination and orchaestrations. Best is that it is not the usual chopped up movie music, but the sections are long and self-sustaining. Fans of Stravinsky's Rite of Spring will here echoes here, but, I just wonder, oh heresy, is this better?! As opposed to coments about the DVD visual poor quality, sonic quality here is superb, full frequency range and dynamics. Rare and worth the money.
