A Super Tribute, June 7, 2000
This review is from: Outlandos D'Americas: A Rock En Espanol Tribute To The Police (Audio CD)
This is a great concept and a super showcase of talent from the Rock en Espanol scene. Here you will find some very recognizable beats and rhythmns of Police songs but in Spanish. Actually the versions are often modified to the point where they are not recognizable from the original. The most outrageous versions include Plastllina Mosh's rendition of "The Bed's Too Big Without You", a sort of dub version with minimal lyrics that eventually break in with a trance like rap. The versions are innovative for the most part and do not always follow the original. Stewart Copeland even makes an appearance. "Puya"(from Puerto Rico) gives a superb hard core performance of "Spirits in the Material World", the singer goes from melodic to hard core for a great effect. If you've never heard Disorden Publico, a group from Venezuela that has been rockin for 15 years, check them out. They do a tight version of "Man in a Suitcase" where they maninulate the lyrics to fit the South American mode. These guys are fantastic, I have bought three of their albums even though they are hard to find. Another band that is hardly known in the US is Los Pericos. They specialize in Reggae and sing with much harmony aand sweetness, sort of like the Mighty Diamonds of Argentina. All in all this is a CD that will get lots of play wherever you go as it has the timeless songs of the Police. The booklet included has lyrics in both Spanish and English but if you were a fan of the Police or Sting you really won't need them. Great song selections by some of the best Rock en Espanol bands around.

fantastic performances, February 10, 2006
This review is from: Outlandos D'Americas: A Rock En Espanol Tribute To The Police (Audio CD)
This album passed far away from my expectations. You have a lot of different styles on the same album like: Reagge, Rock, Punk, Electronic, Hip Hop,Pop and Hard Rock. Best performances on this album in my opinion are: Gustavo Cerrati (Argentina)/Andy Summers; Soraya - maybe the best on the whole album, very sensual, intense and high quality performance. What's the name of the spanish speaking Police cover band?, May 5, 2006
This review is from: Outlandos D'Americas: A Rock En Espanol Tribute To The Police (Audio CD)
When I was in mexico, I heard a spanish version of the police playing on a small radio out on the beach.. It was amazing.. haha. I was just wondering if anyone could help me find out with figuring out what band I possibly heard.. This album seems to be the closest thing I could find, but still isn't it.
