5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Look at Some Great Artists
This is the third installment of the Austin City Limits series I've purchased and I have yet to be disappointed. Outlaw Country is a rare look at some truly revolutionary country artists. They all play off each other very well and the overall feel of the show is very relaxed- just a group of writers singing songs that mean something to them. Kris, Waylon, and Willie...

2.0 out of 5 stars unusually disappointing
Yes I agree with the other reviews that the artists on this release are all GREAT & that Nat West "live At Austin" has generally been of the most high standard.
Which is why this dvd surprises me. Only 47 minutes with at least 30 minutes of sensational material missing !!!
eg. Willie singing "sitting in limbo", Kris "here comes that rainbow again" & his song...

Kris, Waylon, and Willie have played together many times before and seem to truly enjoy it. None of them disappoint. Kimmie Rhodes more than holds her own among the legends. The only weak points in the show for me were Billie Joe Shaver's performances. I'm a fan of his work, but here he just doesn't seem quite up to his usual level. Only a minor complaint, however. The bottom line is if you're into any of these artists and would like to see them in a lower key setting, you really can't go wrong. Waylon's "I'd Have Been Out of Jail" is worth the price alone, especially since this seems to be the only recording of it available.

eg. Willie singing "sitting in limbo", Kris "here comes that rainbow again" & his song about Sam Peckinpah, BillyJoe "live forever" etc etc
They've also omitted a lot of amusing banter.
This could have been one of the BEST in the series but it's turned out far less than it should have been

5.0 out of 5 stars IS TEXAS HEAVEN????, August 29, 2006
LATEST NEW WEST RELEASE OF CONCERTS RECORDED FOR THE AUSTIN CITY LIMITS PROGRAM MAINTAINS THE WONDERFUL HIGH STANDARD OF PREVIOUS ISSUES. THIS ONE BRINGS TOGETHER A TEXAS SINGER SONGWRITERS "IN THE ROUND",FEATURING WILLIE,WAYLON,KRIS,BILLY JOE SHAVER,AND THE ROSE AMONGST THE THORNS, KIMMIE RHODES.
GREAT INTERPLAY BETWEEN EVERYBODY,THE SONGS INDIVIDUAL AND MEMORABLE (WAYLONS "WATCH YOUR MAMMA AND ME",A PERSONAL ALLTIME FAV,GREAT TO HAVE IT HERE LIVE) ADDED BONUS IS THE SUPPORT MUSICIANS WHO INCLUDE KIMMIE AND BILLY JOES SONS GABE AND EDDIE(WHO COULD TEAR IT UP WITH THE BEST OF THEM, BUT HAD A WONDERFUL SOFT TOUCH WHEN PLAYING ACOUSTIC AS HERE--GOD BLESS EDDIE)WILLIE SON MICKEY RAPHAEL ALSO PRESENT ON HARMONICA.
THIS RELEASE RUNS AT ONLY 47MINS,AGAINST THE ORIGINAL TV AIRING WE DO GET NEW SONGS, UNFORTUNATELY WE LOSE BILLY AND EDDIE PLAYING "LIVE FOREVER" WHICH IS DISAPOINTING, BUT TO MAINTAIN THE HIGH STANDARD OF SOUND/VISION THIS WILL HAPPEN---WHAT WE GET IS PURE TEXAS GREATNESS FOR ALL THE WORLD TO ENJOY, GOD BLESS TEXAS.

None of the guys really sang anything. The banter was not even up to par for them. Willie did best, and his "Too Sick to Pray" was the best performance. What a pity. Could have been good.
