5.0 out of 5 stars One of Heath's best books
I loved this book. It was one of my favorites by Lorraine Heath, and I've read them all. I thought she did a terrific job creating and presenting her heroine with a disability, a very difficult job for a writer. The hero...wow! I loved him. Lee was very sexy. 1.0 out of 5 stars Shallow plot
The premise of this book promised more than it delivered. I was so bored and uninterested in the plot and its characters that it was difficult to complete the book.
If I was a younger reader with less life experience maybe I would not have been so disappointed. The depth of the characers was nonexistent and the plot was flat.

I guess one of the things I liked the most about the plot is that we are with Lee and Angela almost the entire time. The story is their story, with not a bunch of subplotting to take us away from the romance or the main characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another superb book by a master romance writer!, September 24, 2006
By
This review is from: The Outlaw and The Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
No, DON'T skip this one! Yes, it's emotional and full of angst. That is what makes Lorraine Heath so great. She delivers with every book she writes. Even her less than fantastic books are far better than most other writers' books. This one is one of her better ones. It is full of family ties, relationships, and twists and turns. It ties together the relationships of Kit, Gray, and Harrison and their families. The reader gets to revisit with those wonderful characters while meeting their children. With each Heath book I read, she is quickly rising to the top of my all-time favorite authors - those that I will buy and read just because her name is on the cover.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lorraine just keeps getting better!, October 23, 2001
This review is from: The Outlaw and The Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
Fortune, Texas and Mexico - 1891

Notorious outlaw Lee Raven abducts Angela Bainbridge when she stumbles upon him robbing Fortune's bank. He doesn't realize the lady can't identify him until it's too late to turn back. The last thing he needs is this spirited, courageous blind woman slowing him down in his quest for revenge and retaliation against the man who destroyed his family. Now he risks capture and death by keeping her with him. Raven is determined his remaining family will not suffer for his crimes so he takes Angela back to his sibling's farm with him. How on earth will they be able to remain anonymous with half of Texas out looking for Angela?

Angela Bainbridge swears she'll never again take another midnight walk. She is mortified and angry that she was so easily captured by the supposed murderer and thief, Lee Raven. After spending several days on the run with him, then more time with his family, Angela finds it very hard to believe the rumors surrounding the mysterious man. He has been nothing but a gentleman to her which leaves her both confused and intrigued.

Lorraine Heath delivers another powerful romance filled with emotional and sensuous impact. Lee and Angela both suffer from past hurts and misunderstandings garnering sympathy and compassion from readers. It was delightful to re-visit with the characters of Ms. Heath's previous Rogues of Fortune, Texas series and meet their children. I look forward to more forthcoming stories of the daughters of Fortune.

Ms. Heath is a master at her craft, penning a lively, heart-tugging love story sure to satisfy her many fans. THE OUTLAW AND THE LADY is not to missed - it now sits on my keeper shelf along with her other compelling novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars A winning tale, October 1, 2001
This review is from: The Outlaw and The Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
In 1891 Fortune, Texas, bank robber Lee Raven has no choice, but to abduct Angela when she apparently sees his face during a hold-up. No way was Lee going to allow the beautiful woman to identify him to the Rangers, but he is not a killer in spite of his reputation. Neither Lee nor his mob has any idea what to do with Angela except take her along with them. To his shock, her so-called clumsiness is a result of her being blind, which means that Lee never had to abduct Angela.

Feeling he has no options, Lee takes Angela to his family ranch. She is already aware that the so-called dangerous outlaw is actually a kind person stealing for the good of his friends. Soon the OUTLAW AND THE LADY begin to fall in love, but he fears she is the one who will reveal everything he has tried to bury over the past five years.

The story line of this western romance is fast-paced with non-stop action and references to and appearances of characters from Lorraine Heath's Rogues of Texas tales. Lee is a strong lead protagonist and the support cast provides depth especially about him.. However, the plot belongs to Angela, whom may be blind, but rejects the notion of a handicap without the author falling into some maudlin apology for her physical condition in part due to Lee's willingness to "bluff" with her. This excellent novel is made even better by the strong characterization.

5.0 out of 5 stars It made me want to be in my 20's again!, December 17, 2009
This review is from: The Outlaw and The Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
I really love Lorraine Heath's earlier work in Texas. I never thought I would care for western settings, but her writing is so heart warming in these earlier novels.

This book is the one that made me want to go back and read the Texas books. She introduced characters you really wanted to learn more about. As for the main characters, they were perfect. It is so refreshing to read an historical novel in which the man is not "mister experience". I won't say much more on that as it will give some of the pleasure of the story away. The heroine has something special about her as well that took me by surprise. She was all the more courageous for it.

Like my title suggests, their feelings brought me back to younger days and although they had difficulties in their life, they were both for the most part innocents when it came to love. It was a refreshing story.

This is a must read.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of Heath's best western romances, June 18, 2009
This review is from: The Outlaw and The Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
So far, this has been my favorite Lorraine Heath western romance novel. At first, I was annoyed that the leading lady is blind and I couldn't imagine how that could NOT get monotonous--but Ms. Heath pulled it off beautifully. I sniffled more than once before the conclusion and simply fell in love with the "outlaw." A very tender and extremely romantic tale.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Romance for all, September 23, 2006
This review is from: The Outlaw and The Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
Lorraine Heath done it again. What a great romance. I started to read this book Friday night and by mid Saturday I had to put it down, just to stop rushing to the end and enjoy the read. What drove me to the plot was the fact that our heroine was blind. It is such an unusual occurrence that only a great author like Lorraine could carry it through with such a grace. Their love story is magical. It was also greatly moving to recount the life's of Kit and Ashton (remember "Never Merry a Cowboy").

4.0 out of 5 stars Not your typical cookie-cutter romance, August 15, 2010
This review is from: The Outlaw and The Lady (Mass Market Paperback)
This book had some twists and turns to it that had me holding my breath. And the main characters were really something... different. ***spoiler warning*** First, the heroine was blind. Excuse me??? Well, that's something new. And for a change, she doesn't get well all of a sudden, but has to learn to live with her disability. And she does learn, and very well. At first, I was skeptical seeing a blind heroine, but she had me rooting for her in no time. And Lee... Now that was a great hero. Even though the constant 'popping of his knees' had me rolling my eyes. The story was interesting, well developed, all the desperation of their situation obvious. And I loved them.
