Review

Amelia O'Malley has set out for Tucson to deliver some books. She is determined that she will prove to her father and brothers that she is a capable businesswoman. Never mind that she has never been away from home before...and never mind that in 1879, people tend to question the morals of a young lady traveling alone. Mason Kincaid is searching for his son, stopping various stagecoaches to ask for clues while dodging the law. Mistaken as the "poet bandit," he finds himself stuck with Amelia, who had stepped off the coach to reclaim her beloved satchel of books. Although determined to complete his mission, Mason finds himself drawn to Amelia, who is certainly not a typical Eastern lady. The more time she spends with him, the less anxious she is to get away. Trouble comes and the two are captured. In his desperation to find his son, Mason hatches an escape plan and they take off. While Mason is determined to avoid an entanglement, Amelia is too difficult to resist. In spite of her pleas and undying vows of love, Mason leaves her behind with friends and resumes his search. Add a twist of fate with Amelia in the middle and the two are brought back together. Is Mason capable of returning her feelings or is his outlaw heart beyond redemption? What a spunky lady! Ms. Plumley has given Amelia a good dose of backbone that adds to the book! Her interesting occupation is also a nice change from the routine. Although the Old West is not my usual preferred setting, Ms. Plumley does a good job in making it appealing. Good attention to details! The added touches of humor go a long way! Product Description

Mason Kincaid is on a mission to reclaim his young son and his good name from the men who had stolen both. But even an outlaw can't leave a lady alone in the middle of the Arizona territory--especially after she's been accidentally dumped from the stagecoach he's just held up. Now, Miss Amelia O'Malley is along for the ride--and this mismatched duo is headed for an adventure together that could be the beginning of a future destined to last.

2.0 out of 5 stars Read the "outlaw" and the next book "the lawman" in 2 days., October 18, 2003
By A Customer
They are as different as day and night. I couldn't get into the "Outlaw" at all. The female character, Amelia, was a pain in the neck from the beginning and I just didn't like her. Mason, our outlaw, had possibilities but not soon enough to keep me into the book. HOWEVER, discarding this book, let me go on to the "lawman". This was absolutely delightful. The funniest and cutest western I've had the pleasure of reading. (at least in the top 5). So skip this one and read my review on the lawman.
