Review

Fun and romantic read! I've read a number of books about the wild west (some romance, some not) and frankly, this one fits very nicely into context. Mentions of actual historical figures in Deadwood really sweeten the deal, and it's clear that Karin did her research. The whole package is very believable as a piece of historical romance, and I definitely enjoyed it.

The heroine is great. She's bold and independent, and she's learning a lot along the way. And I loved the hero too! Strong, sexy, dashing and capricious! Always kept me guessing! :)

I'm not usually keen on reading western historical books, so I was surprised when I found myself liking this one. Clara and her father are fully fleshed people, but I think I have to say that Al Sweareagen stole the show for me. The way he filled out every room he was in with tension was palpable and kept me interested.

Clara really came into her own as the book progressed, and it was fun seeing little changes in her character as she grew.

A quick and fun read. I can only imagine that if you're a western fan you'll devour this book. As another reviewer said, it is heartwarming and sweet. Nothing raunchy in here.

Generously giving it two stars, probably should have been more of a one star. The story was all over the place and the characters weren't very well developed. I was unimpressed and if asked to describe it the first words that come to mind are silly and unrealistic.

I didn't come across any grammatical issues whatsoever (and I do freelance editing from time to time!), so I'm not sure what the other reviewer is referencing. This book doesn't take place in the city, so maybe there is some confusion about social rules in the city versus the wild west. The heroine is struggling with this fact throughout the whole book, and it's one of the core things that help her character to grow.

I also want to mention that this is definitely more of a heartwarming kind of romance than anything else. It's very sweet, and I loved that.

Insipid is the word of the day with this book. Just awful. I could barely finish it for the lame storyline and terrible dialog.

It held my interesting but was not spellbinding like some I've read. I always like romances set pre 1900. I liked that it was set in Deadwood. The array of characters was decent
