Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Outlive: Robotics Versus Genetics is a real-time strategy game that combines innovative artificial intelligence with advanced robotic designs and superior genetic enhancements. Players have the opportunity to develop two distinct races, humans and robots, into supreme fighting forces. You'll research technology, steal information, and destroy your enemies. Your rivals want you out of the picture, and you can't let that happen!

You can play as either the humans or the robots through three epic campaigns with more than 70 maps to explore, including five secret maps. The 20-plus units include Apocalypse, Tempest, and Vampire, each with special abilities and characteristics such as incendiary missiles, teleportation, invulnerability, and more. Special dual-player options allow you to experience all the campaign maps with a friend.

The complete campaign editor allows players to link maps, create heroes, and dictate the story to control their very own epic campaigns. The next-generation artificial intelligence breeds units that call for help when attacked, avoid danger to safely arrive at their destinations, and annihilate enemies if they get too close. There is multiplayer support, including the Continuum free gaming service, for up to 16 players via a LAN or over the Internet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good graphics and some new features, August 5, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Outlive (CD-ROM)
This games is based mainly on Starcraft, with some new features. The graphics are better and it supports resolutions up to 1024x768. Some people are complaining about the originality of the game. But as I see, they wanted to make a game joining many of the good features of the good strategy games of the market, and not a revolutionary product. This game was developed by a group of 8 people, while most of these kind of games are develop by 20 to 30 people. Thus, its quality is impressive. The AI of the game helps the gamer a lot, but also make the opponents much more efficient. The story behing the missions are interesting. To use this product, you don't need a super computer. Many games couldn't run properly on my P233, but the Outlive graphics appeared very, very smooth and fast.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Starcraft clone!, March 21, 2004

This review is from: Outlive (CD-ROM)
This game is Starcraft clone and the developers did a great job doing it. I like how you control all those spaceships. I usually only use spaceships and they are pretty cool. Although, I think Starcraft is better and more original, this game is worth it. Just think of it as an expanision for Starcraft. The requirements are low just like Starcraft and the gameplay seems easy and great to me. The graphics are amazing and it runs pretty smoothly. The sounds are OK and the there are no bugs or anything. This game is must have for any RTS fans unless you don't like the idea of copying Starcraft. I think they did a good job trying to be like Starcraft. This game can be just as satisfying as Warcraft or any other RTS as well. Overall this game will keep you entertained for few weeks if not for months and this game is definitly recommended for all RTS gamers and Starcraft fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars OUTLIVE KICKS HUMAN AND ROBOT POSTIERIERS!!, January 11, 2004

"johnw52001" (MILWAUKIE, OR United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Outlive (CD-ROM)
A Fun addictive little game, 3 senerios of Humand Vs Robot, Robot Vs Human and Human working with Robot Vs Enemy.

If you Love StarCraft, you will like this game alot! Very similar, click on character repeatedly and get funny saying out of them, build up forces and technology and wipe out the opposition. Mainly a fight for resources to build your forces up and attack the other guy like StarCraft,it is challenging to find the right combiation of forces to defeat heavy units of both sides. Good storyline, Not as many missions as StarCraft but fun anyway, game editor to create new games and online multiplayer capability.

Only 2 species, Human and Robot (if robot can be considered a species?) but the combined missions are fun as you may decide to sacrifice one force to keep the other. ADVICE: Air Units take out heavy ground forces, antiair ground units take out air forces, you need both to survive. Technology is fun, but a quick strike with massive ground units can take out anyone, unless you wait too long and their defenses can beat your puny tech units. For the Price, you can't beat it for strategy fun!
