Editorial Reviews

Baby Sue Music Review
The lyrics are as smart and thoughtprovoking as ever... arrangements more diverse and challenging. Possibly the best Babyland release yet.

Mondo 2000
Babyland takes various interesting musical elements such as techno, hardcore,...and sculpts them into a sound that defies labeling.

5.0 out of 5 stars review#2934721039854587545303853143546879264745527121611, July 27, 2001

Outlive Your Enemies is as I see it the most well rounded album to date from Babyland. Here they shown again that they consistantly get better and explore more with each recording. This record has better translated the energy of their live performances ( although NOTHING will ever top that) bringing along a higher technological and artistic understanding wich stands out against the previous albums in a good way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cannot get tired of it, July 25, 2004
I discovered Babyland through a co-worker a couple of years ago. I was coming from the thrash/death metal era, so this was different but with similar punk origins.
I got a mp3 player 12 months ago, can only hold 5 hours of music. I pretty much listen to it every day. I rotate the songs as I get tired of them. There are, however, two (full!) albums I could never get tired of, despite listening to it every day. Outlive your enemies is one (the other is Sasha's SF global underground CD2).
What's so special about this album? the raw energy, the composition, the instruments/effects, the voice.. There's just nothing like it out there. What's funny though is that I do enjoy You Suck Crap almost as much, but think nothing of their other two albums. Too experimental for me maybe. I was not fortunate enough to see Babyland in concert, but I'm glad to see they're now available on Amazon.

5.0 out of 5 stars They just get better and better, February 15, 2003
By "royalewitcheez" (Seven Hills, OH United States) - See all my reviews
Babyland is like fine wine. They get better with age. (And stay true to their roots.) This album, being one of their latest releases, is (relatively) a bit more accessable to a larger audience. But they haven't strayed from the path they began on.

The music is somewhat more along the lines of what typical music is supposed to sound like; or so some people may have said. There's less of the wild and sporatic stuff here than on their earlier releases. Still, the raw emotion and creativity is as present here as on any other release of theirs.
