2.0 out of 5 stars Just Fair
This is a fair overview of Outlook if you're not familiar with the program. Unfortunately, I was also looking for something on .pst files and backups, which is totally missing from this volume. Even the index has nothing about .pst files, and the "backup" entry has a smart aleck paragraph about how poor a job Outlook does of providing backup. Not at all helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Describes a Lot you can do with Outlook, January 22, 2007
This review is from: Outlook 2007 For Dummies (Paperback)
Microsoft's Outlook is the hands down most popular package in the world for handling e-mail. The overwhelming percentage of peopel using Outlook use it only for handling e-mail. They ignore that in revision after revision, down through many years Microsoft has expanded the functionality built into the program to becomen what Microsoft calls a Desktop Information Manager. Not only that, but in keeping with Microsoft's traditions, it has kept the Outlook look and feel rather consistent across the range of functions.

Among the standard features built into Outlook 2007 include what you might call a contact management system (and you don't have to pay extra for it). With you can keep a lot of information about your contacts, not just their e-mail addresses. Then there's a calender, scheduling system, sending yourself notes (kind of like those little yellow slips), keeping a journal and lots, lots more.

Like the other For Dummies books, this book uses simple English to explain things and yet covers the subject very completely.

4.0 out of 5 stars Outlook 2007..a Great Program..and a Great Book, May 31, 2009

I purchased the program to replace Outlook Express 6 which kept locking up on me. The book made the setup for e-mail accounts very simple and I loved the other features of the program which I was able to use almost immediately by reading the book and following instructions. This is a great book for a low price.

Everything was organized as all of these books are, regardless of the subject, and that was like talking to a welcome friend. Everything was easy to find as long as I knew the right questions to ask. I also use this software at my work and it was a double help in that.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, well worth the money!, January 7, 2010

This book is pretty easy to understand and is a painless and fun way to learn about outlook. There is great deal of information. Definitely recommended for anyone using outlook for the first time as I was, or someone using for a while who may want extra tips.

There are a few places where the book is not accurate or I could not do what it said. I think it includes some tips for Business Contact Manager but unfortunately doesn't mention that the feature is only available in Business Contact Manager. Therefore, you may find yourself a drop frustrated when you can't do what it says,if you do not have this add on program. But, those instances are not too common and overall the book is well worth the money it and has helped me work much faster in Outlook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outlook for Dummies, October 20, 2009

This is a good buy. Considering that it was only $0.48 plus shipping, it was a bargain. If you are new to Outlook, this is a good reference book to have on hand. It was very useful when I was setting up new distribution lists.

I have purchased many dummy series books and this did not disappoint. Although I am an Outlook user, I still learned a lot.
