When I bought this book I set out to dig in. The premise of the book was great. It also looked like an easy read, style-wise. I highly recommend this book whether or not you are engaged/married or not. In addition, I recommend it whether you read the book or just the table of contents. Seriously, in themselves, they were most thought provoking & an excellent discussion starter. If you choose to read the book, the content is great. I started out happy that it was an "easy read" but I ended up wishing the style wasn't so predictable from chapter to chapter. Please don't let that deter you from benefiting from this important perspective about essential characteristics. If anything, take comfort in knowing that he is clear & has easy to grasp/implement ideas.

Love this book. A great read for all; prior to marriage, as well as those already in one. Dr. Elmore's book are always packed with great information, easy read, and always with a christian perspective without boring you.

No matter what stage of life you're in, this book is a great tool for anyone in a relationship. Dr. Elmore has a unique gift of being able to inspire you, through words, to try harder to make this 'outrageous commitment' work. This book is spiritually based without being preachy. The chapters are short on words, but long on words of wisdom. This is a book that I will keep in my library and refer back to whenever I feel my relationship is not where it should be...when I'm not doing what I need to do. I also read "How to Love A Black Woman" and it was an invaluable resource as well. Thank you, Dr. Elmore, for sharing your gift with the world.

Great book. I recommend it for all married couples and those thinking about marriage. Great informationo n the correct way to build a lasting and Christ centered marriage.

This book's brief vignettes are inspiring and thought-provoking. I find the book appealing on many levels - the relatively short chapters, getting to the nub, providing solid inspiration to make marriage work.
