5.0 out of 5 stars o March 2, 2013

If you like any of Kavinsky's music I would highly recommend this album. Blizzard is outstanding, as is Protovision. Although I've heard them before on EPs and LPs, Dead Cruiser and Grand Canyon are also wonderful. This is just great original music with a decidedly 80s flair, but in the best way imaginable.

Fantastic album. If you like Daft Punk or are a product of the 80's, you will love this album. First heard Kavinsky in an All Saints store in Seattle and have been hooked ever since. Very techno and creative. They are truly a one of a kind band. A must have for any Ipod.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like a feature film that will leave you hungry for more December 7, 2013
Format:Audio CD
Kavinsky's Outrun is one of the best, if not THE greatest, electronic album of 2013. Outrun is a versatile concept album revolving around the story of a young man who is killed in a car accident and returns as a Flying Dutchman-like zombie driver. The concept itself is playful, energetic and fun, and the music represents this - from the romantic, sentimental-but-dark synth track "Nightcall" to more action-packed, adventurous tracks like "Odd Look" and "Blizzard," Kavinsky shows off a high level of versatility while nevertheless providing a consistently cinematic sense of fun and adventure - the listener can only hope for a full-length Kavinsky tie-in film featuring songs from this album as a soundtrack. For those left hungry for more of Kavinsky's soundtrack-like musical arrangement, Lazerhawk, Mitch Murder, and Miami Nights 1984 are also recommended.

amazing tracks. this cd is great, the booklet that comes with it is steller featuring amazing 80's like images that really speak to the feel of this music.

to sum up the sound of these tracks: just take the best parts and sounds of the 80's and throw it in the modern technology add a hint of dub step in just the right places. kinda feels like what would happen if daft punk was killed in a hit and run and left on the side of a road and came back as a zombie who drove 80's cars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Driving music worth the money July 27, 2013

This is a pretty stellar album. It really shines when you listen to it while driving around at night. If you are at all into electronic music I'd recommend this album instantly. If you're not into electronic music, give songs like Nightcall and Protovision a listen; if you like them I'd expect that you'd enjoy most of the rest of the album.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the shot in the Dark. Amazing Album! May 28, 2014
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
This is literally my first Electronic album. I first heard Nightcall (probably with so many other people) from the Drive Soundtrack and immediately fell in love with that sound of electronica. I've been poking around on youtube listening to other songs from this artist when at work. Some are calming, the other are good if you want to "jam out" on your stereo system, and others are good for jogging. From the sound and the very 80s story the album conveys, it's a nostalgic piece of work. So after taking a gander and I decided to buy this physically with the AutoRip service from Amazon to listen to it at work immediately. I am very pleased with my purchase. Even inside the jewel case, the album artwork is fun to browse throughIt's like screen caps from an 80s movie.

Worth. Every. Digital. Penny. Here's hoping this guy does not lose his edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great record
If you like music from the Drive soundtrack, this is a winner. Great tunes to drive fast to. A little 80's scarfacey video game sounding, but great background or cruising music

Certainly one of the better single artist Outrun-genre albums. Certainly is fun to zip about a big city in the middle of the night with this blaring through the car. Read more

Case holding the CD was broken. Because this is a Christmas gift, I do not know if the CD was affected by the broken case.

3.0 out of 5 stars Decent, but does not have enough sounds or ideas for a full length...

5.0 out of 5 stars Great new album.
Kavinsky rocks it. Very enjoyable follow up from his previous EPs. Does include some tracks from the previous EPs, but they work well with the rest of the album.
