For those desiring to use this tray for actual ice, take a moment to peruse the previous reviews and note that half the folks are utilizing the tray for garlic or herb prep/freezing. For this purpose it appears to succeed quite well. But as a gal whose ice maker recently went bust, but who failed to read the reviews, this tray is a giant miss. First, it's cute--should the appearance of your freezer accessories be a make it or break it deal. Probably not. But it's worth noting because when I received the tray I actually let out a wee girly squeal. I love ice, I eat ice like it's a required food group, and I go through a LOT of it. Just ask my dentist. So the first strike goes against me as I didn't pay close enough attention to the dimensions. It's tiny!! It makes enough ice for 2 regular drinks....1 drink if you're greedy OR pouring a warm beverage. This teeny ice cannot withstand your freshly brewed tea, just sayin'. Melt city.

I have fully embraced the silicone trend in kitchen ware so I was expecting the same brilliant function from this hex tray. Alas, the ice is just waaay too difficult to remove. I don't feel like having a big debate or holding my tongue just right to deliver ice from a tray to my glass. Nope. So because there's so little of it, because it's hard to pop out, and because my old hard plastic trays are, I begrudgingly admit, far superior in every way, it's with a heavy heart that I recommend skipping this. It's too pricy for what your getting (and will make your rectangle cubes feel so square), and though I appreciate it's dishwasher safe, even the 'wait 90 seconds' rule after removing from the freezer doesn't help out the Hex.

If you're wanting to use this for ice cubes, it is really small and not practical. However, I got this tray for freezing fresh garlic, ginger or herbs; puree in a food processor with a little water, pour into the silicone tray, freeze, pop them into a zipper bag and you have convenient portions that can be stored in the freezer for weeks, so much better than the puree you buy at the supermarket (which tastes more like Pine-Sol than anything edible). One cube (or hexagon) is approx. one teaspoon.

I like the product but was not expecting it to be quite as small as it is. Each cube will be small enough that it could fit in the top of a 20oz bottle so maybe that was the intention. The silicone is sturdy and not as difficult as other larger trays to fill and put in the freezer.

I was interested in this ice cube tray for two main reasons. I thought that the silicone material would make it easy to remove ice from the tray, and I liked the interesting hexagon shapes. It makes hexagon shaped ice cubes, in that regard, it works. However, the ice cubes themselves are very, very small which could be overlooked if it was anything other than a nightmare removing them from the tray. Each tray makes 34 tiny little hexagons, and to get them out of the tray once frozen, I have to flip it upside down and press each individual ice cube out from the back. I tried waiting a few minutes before taking them out of the tray - no go. I tried gently placing the trays in a shallow pan of very hot water for a minute before attempting to remove them - no go, and there was drips of water in my ice cube container that made them stick together again once refrozen. This will make awesome little hexagon ice cubes, but the hassle that goes with them is not at all worth the novelty.

Yes, it did say "small" ice cubes. "Thimble-size" would be more accurate.
Funny smell would not wash out. Funny smell transferred to ice cubes.

I ordered this expecting something good considering it has a good 4 star rating. This product is terrible! The silicon material makes it very difficult to get the ice cubes out and considering there are a bunch of small ones in there, it take a while to get them all out. Plastic ice cube trays freeze water in such a way where any bending/twisting will dislodge them. With this one, bending and twisting this renders poor results. Because of the rubberness of the material, when you twist the tray to get the cubes out, it only holds them in somewhere else (bending it outwards will clamp the icecubes at the base, which means they wont fall out). As I said, this is not a good product.

I'm an art student, so instead of using this product for what it was intended, I used it to make plaster molds! It's a little tight to get the cubes out because of the size and how close all of the pieces are. Other than that issue, its cute little hexagons, who couldn't love it!

Nope. Difficult to fill, even more difficult to get the ice out. Remember how easy those white plastic ones were to pop the ice out of by twisting? These are exactly the opposite. As one reviewer pointed out, most of the positive reviews are from people who use them for something other than ice.
