A very important examination of interest group politics.
Kollman has written a path-breaking analysis of one of the newest tools in the interest group lobbying kit -- mobilizing grassroots support to pressure legislative action. Using the tools of modern political science, Kollman has put together a solid analysis and has produced what will become a classic in the literature on interest group politics.

A little out of touch.
This book is a good text for grad students and professors in political science. Others, however, will find this book sadly detached from reality. Those others (or who have a real life) will find other treatments of interest group lobbying far more useful. The model presented by the author is somewhat unclear and misdirected.
