Contemplative, mostly acoustic guitar,

I just stumbled upon Liz Durrett on YouTube and was instantly mesmerized by her sound. This album was the first I purchased, and I think it is great, but it made me go out and get her earlier work which I like even better. I admire most the slow acoustic guitar songs, with the drawn out mournful vocals, which create a great contemplative mood, best felt in Wake to Believe, We Build Bridges, Lost Hiker and Not Running (the last of which is widely available to hear). Somehow the second song, Wild as Them (about a lost cat) strikes a discordant tone with the rest, but even that one I have grown to like. This album is more produced than the earlier work, with more supporting instruments and effects (especially on In the Eaves, with its spooky sounds) than you'd hear on The Mezzanine or Husk with their spareness, so for most people this would probably make the ideal introduction to her work. But for me the spare sounds of the early stuff is best and I most like to hear her with just her guitar. Since listening to all her stuff (when will there be more I wonder?), I have been searching for similar singers, but I think she is truly unique. Some of Bon Iver can have the same effect. But nothing compares to Liz.
