4.0 out of 5 stars Quality, May 7, 2000
This review is from: On the Outside (Audio CD)
After the "one day at a time" EP I was expecting something good and got it. It's full of bubbly pop songs, and features their best song, the anthemic "answer to why I hate you". The only way this album falls down is by the way it never really captures how good they are live. Aside from that, it rocks!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow!, November 24, 1999

This review is from: On the Outside (Audio CD)
Symposium are by far the absolute best live band I have ever had the pleasure of seeing! Although this album is nowhere near as good as their live sound, it's still above average. A good mix of songs from the poppy "Farewell To Twilight" and "Disappear" to the ska-esque "Fizzy" and "Puddles" right on over to hard rock "The End" and "Obsessive Compulsive Disorder". Brilliant.

4.0 out of 5 stars can't go wrong with this album..., October 1, 1999

This review is from: On the Outside (Audio CD)
i had never heard of symposium until last september. went to their concert with little expectations and was blown away by their brilliant performance as a live band. a bunch of great guys and they gave me their album which i've listened to many, many times since. they have so much energy which can't be fully captured on this album. however, the album is a good representation of them as artists and the songs are great. i enjoy the whole album, particulary the first 5 songs!!!! blue and the end are my faves. give this a try and maybe you'll be turned on to a hot new brit band!! and if you can catch them live -- do!!!! it'll hook you, for sure!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is one of the best albums to come out for quite a while, June 7, 1999

This review is from: On the Outside (Audio CD)
This is a particularly powerful album full of strong riffs and sudden changes in direction; in places Symposium are blatently RAH, but they can change tempo in an instant. 'The End' and 'Blue' are two of the best songs around and track 13 is also fantastic. The rest of the album is equally strong, you will be hard pressed to find a bad song, though 'Bury You' is a little repetitive. Buy it, you won't regret it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great first effort, May 20, 1999

Symposium, a popular band from London, puts together a strong, but unfocused compact disc. Many songs have strong radio airplay possibilities. Disappear, bury you, and farewell to twilight are the strongest songs on this cd.
