Book Description

Outside The Lines is a novella-length work of 110 pages.

As an Ivy League ER doctor who eats double shifts for breakfast (and lunch…and dinner), Blake Fisher has little appetite for anything other than work. Being on the staff at Brenstville Hospital means taking care of people, a need Blake understands all too well from losing his brother to cystic fibrosis eight years ago. When he’s asked to coordinate a carnival fundraiser for the cause, he jumps at the chance to help others with the disease…until it lands him side by side with the one woman he never thought he’d see again: his ex-fiancée.

Streetwise and rough around the edges, Jules Shaw is no stranger to earning a living through hard work. But when her job as the restaurant manager of Mac’s Diner puts her shoulder to really broad shoulder with Blake Fisher, she nearly balks. She’d rather dodge and deflect than admit the real reason she broke things off, but the catering contract for the carnival means big business for Mac’s, and feeding people is Jules’s lifeblood.

As Blake and Jules join reluctant forces, they quickly rediscover the spark between them. But the possibility of a future together hinges on coming clean about the past, with potentially devastating consequences. Can Blake and Jules overcome their drastically different backgrounds and learn to love again, or will they always be outside the lines?

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Winner!! July 30, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Okay, so as usual, I'm not doing a synopsis because everyone else already has and they've done a much better job.

So let's get to the good stuff!

First off, eat before you read this. Or eat during. Actually, it won't matter. You'll still be hungry. I think one of Kincaid's best gifts is how evocative her writing is. You don't just picture the cinnamon buns. You can almost taste them. I eat most of my meals over the sink and this almost--ALMOST--makes me want to start cooking like her characters do. Mostly, I lie down until the feeling passes.

Jules. She's my fav kind of heroine--tough, smart, driven. The drive to prove herself also makes her stubborn. With some heroines that can make you want to pitch the book, but with Jules it just breaks your heart b/c you know she's screwing herself and it's understandable WHY she's doing it. The sacrifice was actually incredibly noble.

Blake. Wow. He doesn't understand why Jules called their engagement off and he's still carrying a torch for her. BUT he's resisting it...resisting just doesn't work so well around Jules. I also loved how he saw her as a person and not just a hottie. He's genuinely interested in her role at the diner and where she's going to go in life. It would be so easy to dismiss her ability to nourish people as less than his ability to save their lives, but Kincaid manages to show it's all just different forms of service to people. Healing someone doesn't always have to involve bandages.

Anyway, it's another great read. You should definitely try it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than French Toast, None of the Calories July 31, 2013
By Sally
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It's no secret that I love Kincaid's Line series, and this one has been my favorite so far--which is really saying something. So Jules is from the wrong side of the tracks but has made something of herself as the manager of Mac's. Dr. Blake Fisher comes from money AND has an Ivy League education. And Blake and Jules? They have a past.

There are characters you love and characters for whom you root viscerally. Jules and Blake have suffered in the past and are so perfect for one another, and I just want them to be together. Mainly so Jules will make some of that splendid stuffed French Toast, and I can barge on in there.

A delightful novella, both sexy and sweet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outside the Lines by Kimberly Kincaid (Line #3) August 28, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
Outside the Lines is a passionate, sweet, and beautiful romance story about second chances and finding happiness. Blake is a devoted doctor that lives for his work. He rarely lets loose and has fun. He works. He dates occasionally, has had some flings, but his heart is never really in it. His love life was never really the same when his fiancé left him right before he left for med school.

Jules is a nurturer. She likes to take care of people, and especially to feed them. Cooking not only soothes her, but it allows her to feed the masses. When the diner that she works for, Mac's, is hired to cater a Charity Carnival, Jules is ecstatic. That is until she comes face to face with Blake.

Jules and Blake are definitely still attracted to one another, but until Jules comes cleans to why she walked out him so long ago, the possibility of rekindled their love is pointless. Blake is just wonderful and sexy. He is constantly reassuring Jules of his feelings and telling her how he feels. He is so open and honest.

Jules had her reasons for leaving Blake, none of them really had anything to do with her feelings for him, but in the end they came from two different worlds. Jules will have to take the plunge and tell Blake what really happened all those years ago and claim his heart once again.

This story is so romantic and full of honest and real emotions. Second chance romances always tend to touch something deep inside that really makes the reader sigh when the couple finally get their HEA. Get wrapped up Jules and Blake's second chance and fall under love's spell!

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

5 Sexy Sweet Sizzling Stars

5 Hearts for Sweet Sizzling HEAT

Here I go gushing over Kimberly Kincaid again. I can't say enough how much her writing is like a balm to my soul. Fresh, funny and witty. It always brings a smile to my face , a warmth from the sizzling love and some laughter and tears to even it out.

I love how these books have all centered around the love of food, nourishing those who are dear to us. Taking care of loved ones by simply feeding them...what a simply sweet message.
But factor in some intense emotional scenes with sexy banter and hot loving this story just fit exactly what I needed to read right now.
Blake and Jules never stopped loving each other and this story just warmed me through and through.
Sometimes it's so nice to read about true love finding it's way back and healing so many hurts.

Kimberly has a way of working in secondary characters who just add that special banter that adds to the story building it up to such sweet conclusion.
Blake and Jules were the sweetest couple and I loved when Blake laid it all out on the line.

Can't say enough about how I will be grabbing all Kimberly Kincaid books I see to read and enjoy because they are guaranteed to fill any moment of my time with sheer beauty.

More About the Author

Kimberly Kincaid writes contemporary romance that splits the difference between sexy and sweet. When she's not sitting cross-legged in an ancient desk chair known as "The Pleather Bomber", she can be found practicing obscene amounts of yoga, whipping up anything from enchiladas to éclairs in her kitchen, or curled up with her nose in a book. Kimberly is a 2011 RWA Golden Heart® finalist who lives (and writes!) by the mantra that food is love. She is thrilled to have collaborated on a Christmas anthology with Donna Kauffman and Kate Angell, titled The Sugar Cookie Sweetheart Swap, to kick off her Pine Mountain foodie series with Kensington this October. Her first full-length novel, Turn Up the Heat, will follow in February 2014. Kimberly resides in northern Virginia with her wildly patient husband and their three daughters. Visit her any time at or come check her out on Facebook and Twitter.
